Went in to pick of the last kid in high school from last day of school. Came home to thisView attachment 3526737The big yellow one again. And about 6 adults scattered around the coop. It's a nice drizzly day around 55F. I think it's a mite chilly for the babes to be running around, yet. However, clearly they have other ideas.View attachment 3526739View attachment 3526740This pair scared the big girls back outside when they ran along the ledge.
What did I say? next they will be taking over the coop making everyone stay outside when it's 33C and sitting on your chair.... make the Hooman sing crazy songs.....

You wait - it will happen.

:gig

Anyways they look really really good, they are thriving that is for sure!

So far, looking like some spangles. That inky black head makes her look like she fell head first into the inkwell, then shook her head making drops of ink fall all over her.
hahaha oh so that is where that dark grey paint I had in the office here went! Martiiiinaaaa! what did you do?

It has got really, really hot.
I played the hose over the most shaded area to get the soil nice and damp and am about to provide ice.
Eli is keeping her brood deep in the shady undergrowth. I can barely see them - but I did catch a shot of Piglet’s fluffy butt to wish you all a happy Friday!

Awww - you don't need to ever worry about if you will have a broody hen - she has it in spades - such a good mama she is - you are very lucky to have such a wonderful hen.

Martina just crowed.....

hahahaha just kidding - the Fates will get back at me for that one I am sure....
Beyond not funny and my heart sank there for a second. SHE was the chick I was the most excited about when you set the eggs. I have rooted and pulled for a chick from the power couple since they became a item. You know I've called dibs on Marty if she ever had to be placed. I now also officially call dibs on Martina as well.

The row of zip ties above it hold the hardware cloth curve. Fastened that in the middle so it could rock back and forth. At the moment, it's propped openView attachment 3526785I may take it off all together. Kinda epends upon them

Edit: for size, I traced the outside of a talenti gelato lid, then cut out the shape.
Oh it sure didn't take them long to figure out how to circumvent that hatch - smart chickies!

They're going everywhere already. Eyeing the outside but not wanting to breach the threshold yet.

Mostly displaying butts.

Feet are all about the same size (factoring in difference in body sizes)

Almost certain both buffs are pullets. The dark cheeky chippy is a maybe roo. View attachment 3526802Zulu is in front.

View attachment 3526803Too early to use the tail growth for a tell. Some differences, but could simply be from hatching Monday vs Tuesday.
One forgets how tiny they are, they grow so fast! One minute they are miniscule and then a few weeks later they are flying up into trees, killing snakes, attacking the Grups....
