Actually, I am amazed at how often chickens will walk on/over/through or crawl under other chickens if it suits their fancy!

True! All my extra boys are free ranging and eating the grasshoppers that will in turn eat my garden. They will go packing off to freezer camp some time, but at least they had a good life with me.

The smoke is nonexistent. I heard of all the fires in Quebec, as well. No smoke, but one morning I woke up to ash on the car.

Between the smoke and wind here my allergies, asthma and migraines are all having a party! The horses and chooks are coughing also, the horses I have some prednisone for them tonight, and the chooks I am closing up the Hen House to help keep the smoke out. Not much else to do really...

You would think with the wind it wouldn't be so smoky but this wind is just driving it down here - it does make for some fun with the chickens though hahahaha - they just took off across the field flying/running into the wind - it was hilarious them trying to fly into the wind. I know I shouldn't laugh but they were so comical - silly chooks.

Aw man, that must be terrible. How about an air purifier for you and the chooks and horses? That might help.

Ok I am making a announcement, Twig is going to have to be rehomed. I tried, thought things had got better and he just attacked and cornered Branch. If I had not gotten him off Branch he probably would have killed him. As it is Branch is limping and shaken up. I love Twig, he is beautiful. Branch is my baby though and he comes first.
