Earlier this afternoon I found all my chooks, and eight of the neighbors little chooks, all under my porch together. Soon as I showed up, the neighbors birds scattered out and ran. My birds hit me up for treats. (As usual )
Progress on the babies. Them being that skittish around people says volumes. Your birds lack of fear will help, eventally.

It happens, I know it happens especially with chicks from farm stores where they have been shipped. I just lost the silver laced wyandotte. Next to the speckled sussex I was looking forward to 2 silver based chickens running around. Now in 24 hours I have lost them both. This one was fine out with Raven in the coop eating and drinking. I go to bring them back on the porch and it is gone. In the begining I was worried about the super tiny silkie cross, it is thriving. At this point I am just praying the rest make it to a week old so I can relax.
Oh no that’s so sad, but yes they are fragile.

Hopefully the rest can thrive. Have to have nerves of steel don’t we.

I bet soon those wee ones will figure you’re the treat machine!

I agree, they will soon realize he has the good stuff 😊

So sorry for the loss. I don’t have the words.

I am sorry for the losses :(

I have been hearing a lot of farm store chick losses this year and wonder if the huge hatcheries are breeding to fast and perhaps carelessly and not checking chicks close enough due to the high demand?

Hopefully the rest will be stronger. :hugs
