Your daughter could see if there are any raptor rehabilitators in the area, & have someone come and watch it, if it hangs around. They'd likely be able to tell whether it's something that can be helped. I fear when it gets older and loses the sibling, that's when it will have trouble, as @Ponypoor remarked, it might be sharing food. But maybe it's doing okay with one strong leg.
Animals are amazing, they are far more resilient then humans are, and not so they hung up on ‘disabilities’.

We had a Coon here with a deformed leg for years, she raised kits most years, then one spring she turned up all mangy and skinny.

I was going to trap her the next night and take her to a rehab centre but we never ever saw her after that one night, she showed u, we fed her and she left. She died for sure, but she had a pretty good life while she was here, she had plenty of grub from my mum feeding her and her babies had the best possible start.

Now I dont generally condone feeding wildlife, but sometimes the special one just train us too well! For I am sure this wee gal trained us to help her. Animals are far smarter than most people give them credit for.

All one has to do is watch their chooks and you will see it - smart creatures!

You should have seen Phyllis yesterday. What a mess. 😆
I was really worried, but he wouldn’t come inside, Misty, Whiskers and a few of the others were out with him. They seemed fine but I worried, I wasn’t sure if Polish were ok with the rain or not; the silkies stayed in and all the chicks also.

It was warm rain. I was not worried at all.

It was miserable here, mum put the furnace on in the house! Mr P and all were ok so I guess they are ok on the rain. They could come and go as they pleased, the silkie were out for 5 min and that was that!

The chicks didn’t even bother - they have never experienced rain before 😟
