It looks just like canola, we have fields and fields of it here, fields of gold 😊 it’s actually rape seed but it’s been bred to have low fat or something, they make vegetable oil from it.

The left over stalks are used as bedding - it’s expensive but a good bedding if you can get it. I thought of getting it for the chickens but at three times the cost of a bale of wood shavings I decided nope!

Maybe I'll go mow it, and use it once it's dry. Have yo wait on weather then...

No, that's my brother and Pastel.... plus any other rooster we encounter.
And then the brother goes and hides behind me and so I catch the rooster 🤣
My rooster used to chase my youngest brother all the time. He is still nervous around my hens because of it.

Great letter to a young Queen! Surprisingly even-handed with good solid sisterly advice & explanations. Thank you, Scribe, for posting it!
Is Phyllis Aurora’s “techie hen” (besides “pecking bag”)? :lau
That would be correct. Phyllis handles all the electronics. 😆

Ya mother nature is the boss for sure! We are in for a long stretch of hot dry weather again, - GOOD! I need to get some hay in while I am around and not working. yee gads I hate doing hay :( all my friends kids I used to hire to do this have all grown up and moved away.

Kids now-a-days don't want to work and get paid it seems. The Bank of Mom and Dad pay them...

Understand that even adults are insulting to chickens. Yesterday, my ex and his new wife came over to pick up my daughter (she's 15) and they wanted to see the chickens. The whole time, the new wife kept saying animals are so dumb. We were watching my bantam teach her new chicks how to use the roosting bar. It just stuck with me that she was insulting them as we're watching her teach them how to roost. I prefer chickens to ppl. They just need to open their eyes and see for themselves... even then, it is apparently not enough.
One of my favorite sayings is "I love all my animals but I only like a few people "

I remember the clouds of gnats in south Georgia. They didn't bite but they would fly into your eyes, nose, ears and mouth.
Oh, they are awful.
They bite Pastel. His comb is always swarmed with gnats and is slightly bloody whenever I cuddle with him.
We live right near a swamp, so we get some gnats that bite.
