EDIT: I should have Googled. Apparently they do that sometimes???

I swear, I'm not going to survive 21 days. :th

WHAT IN THE HOLY CHICKEN IS GOING ON???

I just did the evening egg gather/Eenie check. She pops out and goes right for the water. I open the nest curtain and only THREE eggs! WTH? All the others, (Meanie's egg for today, 3 of the marked ones, and the egg I couldn't find 2 days ago!) were BURIED! :he I'm not saying there was a little stuff kicked over them, I'm saying buried several INCHES deep! I had to sift thru the bedding with my hands to find them! And cool to the touch of course.

WHY? Why would she do that!?! :hit

I left them. Not sure what else to do. But is there really any chance I'm going to end up with anything 19 days from now besides 6 rotten eggs?

No you don’t want them scattered by a few days, the hen needs to take the chicks off the nest for food and water so she will abandon any eggs not hatched.

Hopefully during the night more pip ❤️❤️❤️
A day after the first chick hatches I'm gonna put the rest in the incubator until they hatch. I'll just pray that she accepts the chicks.

Broody can mean Jekyll and Hyde. Personality change. DON'T TOUCH ME!!!! Especially to flock mates and roo. BTW, the naked breast is normal broody also. She is very broody.

The buried eggs: to regulate temp/humidity? Not sure on that, but thought ran through my skull.

I googled it and found some old BYC threads where broodies buried their eggs. Looks like it could be a few things. Maybe she's trying to wait and get more eggs? Maybe she's upset that we keep taking them? That they were cold freaked me out. But apparently this happens.

Weird freaking birds. 😐

I sure hope I didn’t jinx by comparing to Martin/a

Who btw is getting some lovely wattles…..
Darn. Maybe she is just a fast maturing pullet?
For MONTHS I thought BBQ was a roo because of her wattles and comb. And then I looked at her face and noted that it looked like Splotches face.
Maybe Martin/a could be a girl????
