Here is the link to last week's synopsis: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26968433

Apologies if I missed anything major - it has been a crazy week.

@knoturavggrl
Has chicks growing fast - I just love these pictures of their beautiful speckles: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26968477

@Ponypoor
Pony has started to realize that her obsession with babies has resulted in a LOT of chickens! https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26968512
But she is not done yet! https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26979315

Eli-too shows an interest in power tools and I cannot get enough of this! :lau https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26969844

Pony took a tumble and was saved only by the plywood she was cutting - but her efforts paid off in creating a new roosting shelf. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26974169

Sophia and babies are now in the newly completed Summer House.

@RebeccaBoyd
Lilly has been playing games with Rebecca. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26970623

Rebecca introduced us to Owly who is absolutely not becoming a favorite, and is not male. Just saying. :fl:fl

And we met Corona's new (and impossibly adorable) babies. There are nine of them. That is NINE (and at time of posting there are more to come). https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26978691

@featherhead007
Has been preparing to celebrate Hen-Rietta's hatch day - the lovely lady is 7 years old. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26971144
The little (now not so little) chick visitors from next door have started sleeping on the fence under the cover of Alex's coop roof. Seems like they like the company of all those beautiful Rocks. And Xzit has gone broody in the middle of a heat wave.

@Lilion
Has had a health scare with Sheba. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26972362
But she seems to be doing OK now.

@Pastel The Rooster
Pastel has done a wonderful job treating BBQ's bumble foot. After soaking for several days, BBQ got surgery this week. Everything was looking OK at the time of posting the synopsis and we look forward to more news from Pastel.
Sadly Pastel's hatch didn't do well.

@bgmathteach
Is trying to help a poor chick with a bad cross-beak. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26976566
Thanks so much for doing this. Very helpful for me this week.

Just checking out the age of chicks here, I now have 3 Roos crowing (Mr P, Rico, & Penne), and Rico has been go after the hens - got hold of Marty and had her screaming up a storm, running up the alleyway, Mr P chased after them and then rounded up Marty - I wish he had clobbered Rico.

Meanwhile I have Penne also crowing along with them. Of the 8 school chicks here, 3
are definitely Roos and one is questionable - though I do think it’s a pullet. The other 4 are pullets I am sure (Little Grey, Petunia, Eli-too, and Muffy).

Age of the chicks:

As of 02 july
——————-
Tweens 11 weeks
Penne 9 weeks
School chicks 8 weeks
Sophia chicks 1 week

Whatever for?
When we lived down by the lake, we were the second house up from the lake - the concession road ended at the lake. We had so many people in the summer parking their vehicles blocking our driveway, blocking the roadway. The police would come and ticket and haul the vehicles away. Didn't stop them though. People from the city who wanted to have access to the lake to swim, boat... picnic! We all kept fencing up on our properties to prevent people from parking on and picnicing on our lands.

Same in the winter with ice fishing. I would get so bad that the police would close the road and prevent people from driving down the road unless you could prove you lived there.

While I do feel bad that people couldn't enjoy the water like I could, it just wasn't possible for people to all come to the area. This is why there are provincial parks, and there are plenty in my area - of course you do have to pay a day use fee... which is far cheaper than the police tickets I am sure!

Little grey came for another visit 😊

Introductions

I would like to introduce this chick-a-loo to everyone.

Martin

Don’t tell Rebecca!
I now have 4 Roos crowing here, went out to clobber Penne for crowing so much, I was even laughing at how his crow sounded so funny, I was doing something non the barn….

Imagine my dismay to see Martin crowing up a storm.
