I know I saw some posts a few days ago about things to have for chicken first aid or something like that?? Does anyone remember what page that was on?? Thank you
I can't find the page, but I cut and pasted the first aid list. I can post it if you like.
Yes smoking is not a good thing, but many people do and it’s a difficult thing to stop.
Very. I've read it's as hard as heroin. I can't speak to that but I can to cigarettes. Smoked on and off for years and quit for good about 7 years ago. There are times I still want one. If you don't now boys and girls - don't start.
Oh that’s perfect! I know my ‘camera’ camera doesn’t do night photos and I can’t set shutter speed easily.

And neither of my cell phones cameras do night Photos. I know because last summer I wanted to take photos of all the fireflies out in the paddock and when I researched them neither possessed that option darn!

EDIT: ummm meant shutter speed. This autocorrect is ridiculous! Corrected!
I love my phone's camera. It's a Samsung and has amazing zoom.

Something in sight of the others is best. They still need to know here and safely meet the chicks. If you remove her completely there can be pecking order difficulties when you try to being her back. If you can't do that though then safety must be top of mind. They will survive a reintegration it just might be tough for a bit.

My 2 cents: pulling a bird from the tribe for more than a day will likely mean she has to do some integration reminders. It also means that babies are complete unknowns to the other adults. My reaction is keep her at least close enough to see and be seen. Any method that keeps her with the rest (but keeps them from getting to her) is preferable, in my mind.
That's what I'd thought. Pretty sure she's bottom of the pecking order already. I think I can confine mom and kids in the coop, then let them out with the others. We'll figure it out.

At least this is the last time I'll deal with this. Soon, we'll have a super-coop. Turns out the cost to move a 12x24 shed 100 miles is cheaper than buying even a small pre-fab! When it's all ready for chickens, we're building in a brooder/penalty box. :clap

Let me see if I have this right: 🎼”And the Rockettes red stare , feathered bumms in the air, gave proof to the plight, that those birds could take no flight! Oh say does that starry eyed rooster, take time from his busy day…. To feed all his harem, and to roll in the hay!’ 🇺🇸
No offense to my military service family. I was just talking about the chickens.

Happy July 4th to all our US peeps

Hope everyone has a nice day!
Thank you! I might be able to go out to the barn and say hi to Lenny and Pippa. And probably my instructors chooks.
I wanna see what all of my hens babies look like! Willow didn't get any babies in that clutch. Once she starts giving me lovely eggs, I am going to see if I can give them to my instructor.

Got home from the Permian Basin yesterday evening and mounted this fan near our swing so we always have a breeze while watching our pups n chooks. View attachment 3565575
Great idea! And you can hang a jug of frozen water in front of it for a cooler breeze 😊 so I have been told.

I am finally going to get a chance to do this tonight, we are under extreme heat warnings here, humidex readings will be around 40C.

Everyone will come inside (chooks and horses) around noon-ish where it’s cooler.

I think it was RC who told me she hung wet towels in front of her fans, I am going to try that in the horses’ stalls.

Though not sure how effective a swamp cooler effect will be with 73 percent humidity. I am doing stalls right now so I am going to hang a wet towel and see if it’s any cooler.
