She really needs training, I've nagged this man for ages about this. He wanted to breed her . I've told him that's cruel in a far more blunt way.

Awww - yes she needs to be spayed and sent to a nice family home with kids that can play with her - what a nice little chocolate lab ❤️

Aurora is spot on as always 😂.

I have to say that I did expect good flyers, not high wire walkers able to land, cling and fly from a piece of string or the top of a flimsy plastic pole.

But I see better now why you find endearing what I've found irritating. "Hooligan is a compliment" 💚.

And if their lives is to be so short because of having being turned by us into laying machines, I guess we can allow them a few pepper plants or strawberries in my case.
How many eggs are yours laying a week? I was hoping that they were not turned into egg machines yet.

Hello 👋 How are you lovely?

I've been all over the place here decluttering and not able too sleep because I've been waking up all night with overheating. I was worried I had become a diabetic  but it was the heat here followed by catching a silly cold. Oh the relief 😅 I can deal with a cold np.

Just about to catch up.
I'm so sorry you have caught a cold. I hope it passes quickly. :hugs :hugs

Ok make that 5 crowing, little Seagull is now crowing- such a funny boy 😊

AND Mr P beat the crap out of Rico and Martin. Yay!

I am feeling like I should get those young Roos in their own run/coop but if I am trying to get Rico or Martin to be part of the herd I guess best to leave them be.
Hooray for Mr P! I sure hope they learn to be gentlemen like Mr. P is.

Hey i do but it's called lemon meringue pie here. I've never had it made with lime
It is wonderful if they get the tartness correct. Sometimes it is too sweet.

Okay. Is this the same for cats? My friend walks his cats, and he just lets them go wherever they want and just follows them. I keep telling, hey your cats are walking you. Just says oh its okay, the cats just go where they'd like, so they're happy.

Just a thought.

Canines are pack animals. Pack rules: alpha goes first, with a fee exceptions. You the human want/need to be alpha over the dog, then you need to go through doors/gates first. You signal when the dog is allowed to eat. Dog's attention needs to be on you rather than on whatever it wants to chase until you give the ok.

Most felines (wild cats) are solitary creatures (lions being the exception) . They don't view the world the same way. Pack rules don't work on cats. I think, if you want to train a cat with a "formula for success", you'd be more successful using many if the techniques the ancient Egyptians used in training cheetahs to hunt with people.

Thanks for all the information. I really appreciate you taking the time to write it down.

I have used the finger flick with my sassy Orpingtons, so will keep that in mind.

All but two of my hens squat, often so that I almost trip over them! The lowest in the pecking order frequently squats at the sound of my voice. I assume that will all change as Viola comes of age.
You're likely going to hear hens screaming for help when he grabs one. Usually another rooster rescues the hen from the unwanted attentions. The hen can (and will) refuse to lift her tail for him too. Early on, Hector (already a big boy) pinned Twirp (one of my smallest hens) to the floor trying to mate her. She squirmed out from under him, turned around, and jumped at him...both feet. I clearly saw the bottoms of both when she went for him. He backed off in complete startlement, then turned to me (probably the what do I do now/mom, that wasn't nice help me). She drew blood on his wattles.

Yesterday afternoon, I watched him attempt to catch Maizie who isn't interested in him. He finally cornered her where he could grab and mount. She kept screaming. PRIMULA, one of Hector's loyal girls (and a dark Brahma, so larger hen)came up and went for him like another rooster would. Maizie ran off to hang out around Whiskey instead.

Your adult ladies will help to educate him on being a good boy. Your best approach in those instances: let them work it out. Doctor his wounds and put him back in with them I don't know if your babies are integrated with the adults yet, but the sooner you do that, the sooner the adults will educate him. He will also mature sooner than your pullets will. He will start attempting to mount the pullets because his hormones will push him. If he's with the adults, they will educate him early on good behavior while giving him an outlet for the hormones that are raging before the pullets are ready.
