This has to be corrected. Pretty Boy Floyd was a gangster. Charles Arthur Floyd, nicknamed Pretty Boy Floyd, was an American bank robber. He operated in the West and Central states, and his criminal exploits gained widespread press coverage in the 1930s.

This is most likely her only chick. Another egg had made a initial pip yesterday but passed in the shell overnight darn it. All that is left is the egg I was iffy on. I am still iffy on it and will leave it alone for another 24 hours. Please, please let this little one make it. Sweetheart, you are my 1 shot for a girl and you will have a pampered spoiled life. PLEASE, PLEASE, be a girl.

Pullet?

I am pretty sure Petunia is a pullet but just wanted to get others thoughts - I don’t have the best record for guessing!

EDIT: hatched 08 May, 10 weeks this coming Monday

EDIT: She also has the most amazing fluffy feathers and beard and muffs - I keep trying to decide who her mum is?! But I don't have anyone with those large fluffy loose feathers. She has brown speckles on her breast.

What if you made a broody house? That way, you wouldn't have to feed the whole flock chick starter when the chicks were growing up. You wouldn't have to deal with the drama. When the chicks are old enough to be sexed, pop the pullets in and put the cocks in a cock tractor. That's how I'll do mine. Tomatilla is not in the big coop.

It's not possible here either. We have the 7x7 coop and a run that's about 6x9 right now. They all stay together. I only have 3 hens, a rooster and now the 3 chicks. We're getting our 12x24 shed moved Mon and we will be trying to do a better set up when we "remodel" it.

You will want the crumble to be small for the wee chicks to be able to eat. I just bought 25kg of Purina start and grow which truly is dust!

I have been mixing it with my layer feed to make a mash twice a day.

I like the Floradale feed but I can’t get a Grower ration without Amprol.

The bottom one is what the MFA crumble looks like. I'm not happy at all. But it's what I have for now.
