Look what Perdita and I have.

This is most likely her only chick. Another egg had made a initial pip yesterday but passed in the shell overnight darn it. All that is left is the egg I was iffy on. I am still iffy on it and will leave it alone for another 24 hours. Please, please let this little one make it. Sweetheart, you are my 1 shot for a girl and you will have a pampered spoiled life. PLEASE, PLEASE, be a girl.
Awlll gorgeous baby I will be hoping with you that it is indeed a girl! 🖤 🩷 🖤

Pullet?

I am pretty sure Petunia is a pullet but just wanted to get others thoughts - I don’t have the best record for guessing!

EDIT: hatched 08 May, 10 weeks this coming Monday

EDIT: She also has the most amazing fluffy feathers and beard and muffs - I keep trying to decide who her mum is?! But I don't have anyone with those large fluffy loose feathers. She has brown speckles on her breast.
I see a pullet, no pointy feathers in sight all nicely rounded edges. The comb looks tiny and wattles are also tiny.

I hear rumours that we may attempt opening her up. I will stay far away for that.
We have four other Brahmas. Going to be hard getting used to that.
We think she may have had a breathing issue.
Well not sure what whoever is opening her up expects to find, unless they have a background in pathology.

I would say if it's a Brahma then likely it's the heat, those birds are extremely heavily feathered and the heat is a killer of all animals with heavy feathers/fur. And I know you are experiencing extreme heat your way.

Unless she was experiencing other symptoms such as runny nose/eyes, uncoordinated movement, not eating... etc.

Extremely sad at any rate. And a Brahma to boot - so lovely with that colouring ♥️

Thanks - it's hard to see what all those feathers and then I start seeing things that aren't there... I have a Splash just like her - soft fluffy feathers, beard, muff. I know that one of the Grey Ladies is her egg mama, Buttercup doesn't have any muffs or beard and her feathers are stiffer.
