Rico is lovely and I am glad Mr P started pummeling him. I have to ask.....where is Floyd? is he still behaving?
Yes he is, he started crowing more yesterday. I am waiting to see what he does, right now he is hanging with the school chicks. So I seem to be developing 3 herds here.

The grups which includes Penne and Sophia is back in the grou with her 4 chicks.

The newbies (nieces hens), who Rico is making a go at. But have noticed a couple of the ladies hanging with the grup ladies,..

And the school chicks; Floyd hangs with them and I also have 3 other boys there - Diamond, Spot, and Seagull. I think they may have crowed. But the girls there are now 12 weeks old, and the oldest Tippy (one of the tweens) also hangs with them. Will any lay eggs early? Who knows. Tippy seems to be getting ready.

I just realized it's my cats' birthdays, but they got completely overshadowed by the quail chicks. Happy birthday to my stinky little fatso, Beanie, who's the best mouser in the houser. Happy birthday to my stinky little slinky, Goblin, whose little paw got stepped on yesterday because he can't help but be underfoot. 3 years old today!

I've popped the 7 into the brooder with a parakeet waterer and some game bird starter. They've pecked experimentally at it. Several have drank from it! I wanted them more stable on their feet before I dip any beaks in there. But so far so good. Here's this little popcorn shrimp sitting before its feast.

You’re up late / early 😊

I just woke and took something for my RLS and my wasp stings (darn critters).

I grab a pic of Larry as she went by this morning; need to handle these ladies more.

I am a night owl. Enjoying the last couple of weeks before school starts up again and I will be getting up at way to early o'clock. On here trying to do a little catching up.

Beautiful girl, I need to handle mine more as well. I get my daughter to capture them most of the time 😂 She is quicker then I am and they still give her a run for her money. The older girls don't fuss to much about being caught and handled anymore but I really do need to step it up with the dotted wonders so they can be looked over from time to time.

Oh gosh. How has your boss reacted to that!

I hope you get well soon with no long lasting issues. :hugs :hugs :hugs
I didn't give her a chance to react. Left a voicemail in the Center's Ohone (she come in later - the receptionist who directs students needs to know first thing - they let my boss know.) This was before I knew it was covid & just called out for the day. She called my house when she got in, but I was in br vomiting, so she got hubby - not too much was said.

After calling my doc who said to go to ER (I am asthmatic & was having trouble breathing, rescue inhaler not helping) determined it was covid & note to be out 5 days. I emailed a picture of the note to both her and HR. If there is any fall-out, it will be when I return - i.e. in person/spoken, not written. I'm sure if I had picked up the phone, not hubby, the conversation would have been vastly different.

Not sure how many names I'll need, at this rate of chicks going down. We'll see in the morning.

I've put together something symptom-wise, though - both the chick that died and now this new one acting not well, they both had/have soft big crops when they started not acting well, at least the new one does now and I noticed it later on with the previous chick. The ones that are well have small pretty firm crops. Yesterday all remaining four had this small firm bump of a crop. Now one of them has this seemingly fluid-filled larger crop. So I gave it only four drops of sugar water before their bedtime today. It may not be able to move the contents on. Maybe there's a problem, a stoppage, with the gizzard.
So, someone has probably already mentioned it - but can you massage it's crop? Especially at the bottom, where a blockage is more likely to be if it is squishy. I know, their crops are tiny - but you must have fairly nimble fingers to play?????

I would just keep any meetings short and very blunt; can’t remember if you keep a log or not of any interaction with her, when I had a young ACM making inappropriate comments to me I kept a log and emailed it to myself each time I made an entry, that way I had a time stamp on it.

I like the idea of replying back to her in an email - make sure to BCC yourself and your private personal email also.

Hope you’re feeling better today 🥰🥰🥰
