I went out to get some pictures of the speckled suspects as alex calls them. They did not make it easy as they wanted to hide in the tall grass and weeds next door. Smart on their part as they no longer have their mother watching over them. Difficult for me as I need body shots of them.

9 weeks old now. Those speckled suspects had better be pullets.
That two babies? First baby 66% pullet and 2nd baby is looks pullet to me.

Now what is he doing in the Hen House? Hmmmm - he better not go causing trouble!

Rico! Get out of there!

Babies were on the floor snoozing - they are still finding their place in the Hen House.

Yes that is 2 different chicks. That is the problem, they are identical in every way development wise. If one is a boy, they both are. If one is a girl, then they are both pullets. They were sold as sexed pullets so there is that. If I do anymore flock additions in the future I need to think long and hard on new breeds. They give me grief where I am not familiar with their growth stages and how quickly they do or do not develop.

Yep I know what you mean, I was looking at my babies and at 6 weeks (and 1 day), I noticed wattles starting on one of them, since I have no experience with wattles and single combs I don’t know what to expect.

But I will have faith that they were indeed sexed correctly.

Let's see how smart, or stubborn the hooligans are tonight. Tonight will make day 3 of roosting in the coop. Will they go to the coop on their own or will I have to carry them 2 by 2 off the porch and put them in the coop. I hate doing that and feel terrible. Instead of settling nicely on the roost they insist on trying to climb up my arms and roost on me.
