The tall grass here is cut as it's a fire hazard, though there are areas where it's left wild, in wildlife listed areas. Here in the country people can cut their grass or not - no one is going to say anything - my neighbour's place is a jungle he never mowes his grass since his wife left him many many years ago (she was the one who used to cut the grass). He tried to get me to come over and cut it but his backyard had so much junk there and insulation and garden hoses, and the grass was 2' high I told him I couldn't.

Let him hire someone.... or not.
Kelly, you can’t save everybody! I know a person who is angry with the world. He comes to church, but hates people. He despises me, and I don’t know why.

Great! Now, I have to come up with a cool name for him (mine), too!:lau

Maybe I should have a naming contest for him???? Gotta name him quick - Elroy keep sniffing him and trying to sneak grab him when I'm not looking....he thinks anything plush is for him!:lau:lau:lau:lau If he is named, he is definitely mine!

I just give Elroy the hairy eyeball and he backs off - but every time - his nose is there an his mouth is 'fondling' it just waiting for me to say 'okay'.

I think this is the best kind of Leghorn for me to have - no laying issues - will snuggle (not peck like @RebeccaBoyd ), nor fly into the rafters like Eli! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 It was a very sweet thing for a thoughtful lady to do!
How about Loyal Lloyd 😊

That’s sad! I feel like I should break out in song again ‘Everything is beautiful…’

Did you wear your shirt? Maybe he wishes he had a shirt like that too…

How could a snake do this? We have a very few venomous snakes here, copperhead the most common. Black snakes eat chicks, but generally not as big as these, but she wasn't swallowed of course. The only damage appeared to be on her neck. Plus, I've never seen any large snakes, though I'm attracted they exist.

About the only predators that could get in the coop would be snakes or rats.
I'm so sorry! It's heartbreaking and there's no good words that can really comfort. :hugs :hugs
If a rat can get in a weasel could too. But that's not a typical weasel or rodent attack. The snake experts make a good case in their analysis.

Jealousy is certainly a factor in that situation.
I have, because I earned it (every thing I have) I worked hard for. Took many risks and made it through. IMG_3240.jpeg

Then my suggestion is to give this poor person not another thought. A person cannot be made to like, or be happy anymore than one can hold up the moon.

Enjoy yourself and your chooks - you have earned, and thus deserve, it.

55 KPH or 63 MPH. That’s the minimum speed I have to run, to get my Marie airborne.
A little aircraft trivia today. :highfive:🛩️
Are these numbers right?
@ChicoryBlue

How are the chicks and butters doing?
Butters, I am hoping, is making a comeback. We'll see if her gizzard is right. She's been eating a lot of crumbles, and eating seeds, pill bugs and worms, and today I saw a small but normal looking poop. Until today there's been thin weedy poops, and day before yesterday I found an undigested sunflower seed along with bits of seed in her weedy poop (saw her poop it so I know it was hers).

But I also saw another regular poop, possibly by Popcorn, in the poop tray, that also had sunflower bits in it.

She's not standing right when resting, but I'm not counting her days yet, because her desire to eat has just skyrocketed in the last two days. There were no weedy poops today in the poop tray from last night. I did tube feed her 35ml once yesterday morning, but won't today, see how she is tomorrow. Possibly she is beginning to grow more feathers? I see a couple loose ones hanging off her now and then. Hazel's behind her in this picture.

The chicks are still alive and doing well, getting epaulette feathers now. Moved them into a pop-up puppy pen I bought. No pics yet. They have excursions back up into the tote every day, dust bathing and jumping around thereabouts too. Today they got a clump of sod. I have these from a few days ago, did I post them already?

Yep my gang also thinks that the grower and starter feeds are candy hahaha - crazy birds! I have decided that I will use a 50/50 split of Layer and Grower here as that will be the easiest for my mum to feed (if I ever...) go out on a project working.

Mornings I add a handful of the high protein supplement to their mash which they gobble up.
I saw you corrected your plan re the feed ratios, I think that's better than 50/50. I don't remember, what is your protein supplement?
