Tonight's roosting relocation worked a little better. I managed to get Eenie to the platform with very little problem. Then I got Uno over there. Sadly, Tres was not as cooperative and his/her outraged peeps got Manny going. But in the end I think mom and kids found each other and settled in again on the platform.

I must admit, I'm starting to wonder if Sheba, Meanie and Manny actually do roost! They are always in their pile when we go out. I know my husband sees them on the roosts in the morning, but who knows when they go up?

Such strange birds.

When your new coop gets up and running you can put in a coop cam and spy on them like I do

The chicks to the far right on their ledge, and to the far left Raven (aka Blackie as my BIL calls her) in the crate, and the 3 Azurs on a 4x4 roosting.

Another trying but successful re-entry into the coop tonight. All but Dakota were in their places. I told her that I would be out of town tomorrow (possibly) and she better get in that coop pronto! She did.

Are the babies still behind the coop or joining going inside or something else?

Fun as that is, I don't ever see me being a coop cam kinda chicken tender.

Oh but so convenient at 2am - if there is a sick animal I don’t have to disturb them, I just check the cameras.

Or as I am sitting here having breakfast watching the News and there is Henny Penny back on the nestbox I figured she was broody, now I know for certain. Drats - another broody

I have Whiskers in the top box, and Henny Penny in the lower box.

Thirsty Day.

Have to use Sherlock playing with the hose....kept getting water up his nose and sneezing for several minutes trying to get it out. Really need to video that.

And late visit from Cheetah, Cuckoo, and Thing, whi is displaying evidence of being thirsty and finding the hose too.

And Quartz was warming up, but the rest finally posed for a moment. 3 weeks and she still doesn't want to move to roosting with them. She's a fantastic mama and has even gone after some of the ladies above her in status. Only thing I can figure on who is permitted to walk through the babies and who isn't: body language: how interested are they in the babies. She'll let someone stroll/graze through, then attack a different time for the same hen. The boys (and the Invasion) have been THOROUGHLY educated on giving space to Mamma's Babies. Zulu and Tuff are occasionally sounding off, but mostly watching and learning good behavior. Not sure yet what we're going to do with them (and the Storm Front), but they're definitely handsome lads, smart, and observant.

In other news, Navy Son will be arriving tomorrow, staying for about a week. Dunno when the rest of the family will be arriving, but funeral scheduled for Monday. Youngest will be missing the first day of his senior year. They shifted to a 4 day school week, so having the day to see the new bus schedule will be nice. We all are still dealing with the waves of good and bad moments. I'm going back to work today, so we'll see how that goes.

Seoc sneezing out the water yesterday was quite the barrel of laughs. Needed it.

As far as work goes, the give-a-darn is still nonexistent, and the eye rain is running close to the surface. Work may take my mind off things or it may make things worse. The last time I saw her was there.

Very good question. No I haven’t seen the neighbors chooks over in my yard for several weeks now.

I haven’t heard their roosters crowing either. Only my roo Jaffar is heard in the mornings.
Maybe I should peek over the fence and see what is going on there.
