So I found some possible hope!!! I think I could make a coop for Darcy like in the photo I will attach! That way he has something big enough to also get some ladies! If I do keep him and the getting him a coop plan works I will get him 3-4 hens and their names would be

Debbie
Deborah
Deny
And Diane

I want to build something kinda like this. I will add two together so the can have some room to be in if it rains and I will make a run do there is no problems between flocks. I do want them to be off the ground so I might need to build a ramp and edit the design for the run attachment but this should be a good reliable and much cheaper solution!

My HUGE worry is that they got inside her body 😢 which is why I gave the ivermectin. I am just furious with myself - I was distracted with chasing randy Roos, fixing the barn, etc. I was complacent thinking it would never happen to me. Poor Red 😢

I just checked her and she seems to be sleeping, I saw her flick her head so she is alive. And upright on her sternum sleeping I would say.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that she is sick. I hope she survives! :fl :fl :fl :fl

This morning Red is still with us; I checked her abdomen and didn’t see any maggots. Is that a good thing? I don’t know, but I am going with it that’s it’s a good thing.

I will need to give her a bit of a soak to get some shavings removed that have adhered to her overnight.

She ate a handful of mealworms and some scratch grains I placed on top of some mash.

I also gave her more Tylenol and 1/2 a low dose aspirin.

When I head back out I will give her more antibiotics.

Meanwhile I just checked her on the camera and she is up on a chunk of 4x4 I have in the crate.

I am so sorry this happened. It's not your fault! We all do the best we can.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to bring her into your home to eliminate the possibility of a any more flies getting into her wound.
Yes I am thinking I may do this, but I don’t want her lonely.

I think as long as her wound stays dry or covered she should be ok. But I will need to monitor this very closely next few days.

That looks like it could be a great option - the metal framework of the container repurposed as a run is ingenious!:thumbsup:thumbsup

My one concern about that as a coop is ventilation. You definitely want to add ventilation - but in a way that won't allow water in during a storm. (a traditional coop, the roof overhang would help with that - this one you will need to figure out how to prevent rain for dripping into your vents & from blowing in if there is just a bit of sideways wind.🤔🤔

I'm sure you can figure something out

I saw a YouTube video about converting one of those. Don't remember who it was, but the link came from byc, I think. Might have been a Papy Nounn (or one that popped as a suggestion after watching some of his).

@Gigachad poultry check out the conversion videos
