I was at a comic convention today.

I simply drove 3 hours to get paw paw trees, ginko trees, guava trees, mulberry trees in a nursery nearby.

Honey has been off the antibiotics for days now. She appears to have survived from her infection. She is now going through a hard molt... dropping feathers like crazy.
I need to relocate my paw paw tree, and an oak also, my cucumber magnolia is going to over grow them both.

Here is a cute young cockerel from my 3rd broody's hatch. I was hoping he would be a she, but no such luck.:hmm He is sweet, though, and will let me catch and hold him (except for first thing in the morning when I let them out - they are then either intent on devouring food, or running like kids to recess when it had been raining all the previous week!:lau)View attachment 3637429View attachment 3637430View attachment 3637432

Given his head tuft, mom is my one Lake Shore Egger (she was the one trying to communicate with Lulu last summer.) She is my only chicken (well, now, only ADULT chicken) with a head tuft - and is striped like a Cuckoo Marans but with a slight frame. And, since he has some red bleed-through, daddy must be my mixed Roo from last year's hatch (part EE - dad, and mom must be my one red star or similar (she was one of the clearance hens from TSC 2 years+ ago.) given his coloring. Darn, I need another roo that isn't either a BR or a breeder to create my meat line like I need a hole in my head - I only kept his dad because he was so good with and to the ladies - and at a young age, too - his idiot phase was mild & short lived. His dad is one of only 2 roos that actively find good nesting spots and call the ladies!

Sorry, I forgot to turn the flash on for his picture.
I love his colouring, and of course the topknot and wattles ❤️

Alright. You've now guilt tripped me 😅 I wont sneak on here after this if I can help it.

I am shocked at how much hate one tiny guinea can have inside of her! How much hate can something so tiny possibly have to be gone after a hawk attack and then appear at 6PM? Keep I'm mind that when I posted about the attack it had only been a few minutes since she disappeared. My dad and I went out to feed everyone and I saw a tiny white head poking up through the grass near her siblings who were locked up after the attack.
I am mad and relieved at the same time. I am mad because she has been sick so I was hoping that the hawk had killed her quickly. And also because she gave me a heart attack.
I'm happy because well, shes alive and I'll get to see her another day, unless she dies of whatever sickness that she has tonight.
Well, goodnight, and I'll see you guys soon, because I'm going to get my grades up ASAP
It’s easy, just apply yourself to the task at hand and before you know it you will be an A student! And can chitchat here.

I got one finished! Now I need to fix it up and make it into a run!

I'm glad she is doing well.❤️ ❤️Having gone off her feed when she was ill, and ready to enter a molt can combine to make it harder than usual. I hope you are able to ply her with something she loves during her molt to keep her energy level up.

You will probably have to fight the chooks for the mulberries! I'm hoping to plant 2 in the spring.
Yes she has been getting foods that she loves!

Why not planting mulberry now? Fall is the better season to plant.

I was just out in the run, cleaning up a few things. Then I noticed a 4ft garder snake behind the feed bin. I tried to catch and relocate it, but it was too fast for me. I was wondering why all the chooks were hanging around outside the coop/run, not wanting to go in. It was a pretty big snake!
Have you sent this thing on it's way?

I'll be looking up a mulberry now. It's not something I've come across

I'm not a very good gardener. The last time I got got going I was harassed by neighbours. I had three problem neighbours one after the other, so after moving a couple of more times I completely gave up on my gardening.

It's such a shame because I was growing some nice things, even ginger.

Now slugs are a nuisance here and I just cannot find the energy to battle anymore
