They will get too fat to get in the tree and will lose their jobs!

Nice try on the negotiating front @bgmathteach - my last union negotiation was with Maggie about working at weekends.
I lost on all points.
Your hens were very militant. Maybe @bgmathteach hens are a little less strident. You never know.

Something very exciting is going on at the Chicken Palace!

The only reason you don’t see Babs and Piglet is they already got to me before I could get the camera - they are both very fast!

That is amazing! :gig :lau:lau:gig

Bella took a turn yesterday. I got home around midnight and she could barely raise her head. Around 10 this morning as we were fixing to put her in the truck to go to the vet, she passed away in our home. We had a viewing so all of the pups could say goodbye. They watched as we covered her, they know where their sister sleeps ❤️
Oh gosh. I'm so very sorry. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

I don’t understand some industry terms. What exactly do you think they mean by “the whole egg-laying cycle”? Start of lay, then they live for some 18-24 months or so, then they stop laying and are killed? Why is this a cycle? Seems pretty linear, if that’s what they mean. Maybe it’s cyclical for the farmer (but not individual birds)?
Ya - irritating to me that they wish to make so clinical and ‘clean’ - meanwhile for me the egg laying cycle is ‘lay eggs’, take a break for winter, lay eggs spring time, go broody and take a break, lay eggs, take a break to molt, lay eggs, winter break - yep not linear for me either, very cyclical.

Yes. That was the only way I could catch her - when she roosted at dark.

Unfortunately, I had to process her this weekend. With her growing and my arm not, it was getting harder to feed her and taking longer to stuff the crop...and she was - condition wise= a full grade below her siblings. And that is with me keeping her in these past few weekends to give her a full mid-day feeding, too, before letting her out with her siblings.

😢I cried myself to sleep Sunday night.😢 I knew this day would come, but I kept trying to ignore that thought mentally - until I just couldn't anymore.
You did the right thing, letting her starve was not an option, and you gave her a wonderful life of roaming and being a chicken 💕

I'm over 30 pages behind and trying to catch up during the late night hours. Started out over 40 pages behind. So some small progress.

If she would just not fight so much when I went to dose her I would be thrilled with Hattie. It's a shame she can't figure out the nighttime medicine is why she can run again. Maybe she wouldn't fight so much.

She was even stretching out for tiny tomatoes again!

Can you get the med in pill form? A small pill hidden in a grape or tomato would be a good solution 💕
