@BY Bob , I really hate to ask this of you, but Jaffar has been on my case to ask you if he could possibly be knighted in honor of Queen Aurora’s Court. He has proven himself as to “the way of the chicken” numerous times since I have known him. By no means am I under threat of any kind, but Jaffar is persistent in his attempts to be Knighted. I personally don’t think he needs any recognition, after all, he’s only an overgrown feathered hamster with a Napoleon complex. But could you please 🙏 ask the Queen for her favor in this endeavor?
Perhaps a nomination party from his ladies starting why he should be knighted might sway Aurora. Be sure to have them include his feed of daring do and selflessness.

I'm glad you were able to rehome him. Roosters are truly different than hens and present challenges that are very different. One should go into keeping roosters with their eyes open but well covered and options identified.
I would like to amend your statement (see above) Stronger pecks and longer necks!

The Brilliance of Hattie
She on to my game and making more adjustments to outwit me. I have been removing her from the roost every evening to give her a dose of metacam.

She can't really switch roosts because of the pecking order. Aurora would not allow it. I believe the sore keeps her from sleeping on the ground, or so I thought.

Last night I went to gather her up for her dose. I've been doing it after 11 to try and push the effectiveness further into the next day for her. I guess I need to switch up my time again.

Last night she was off the roost when I opened the door and took off running across the coop. I managed to snag her tail feathers before she got clean away but a chase around the coop at 11 does not feel like fun to me.

She had apparently tanked up for the game as her craw was full as well. She is a smart one this girl. We have years to go on this med. I can only imagine how clever she will be.

I give the metacam mixed in with a tiny bit of sardine or mackerel. Something that has both a strong taste and a strong smell. It worked for two out of the three hens I gave it to.
I think it must be disgusting because they would not eat it mixed with scrambled egg or yogurt.

Fine, I will withhold feeding until I get the results of a conversation with all the ladies. I do ascertain that they will all agree, Jaffar is a good candidate for knighthood in Queen Aurora’s Court, in the kingdom of Fluffy Butt Acres. Adjacent to Cluckingham Castle here in California.

She is. And she doesn’t look like any pictures I have seen.
I sent a picture to the breeder and he said he had never seen one like her before.
He thought she looked very cool.
Assumed it was some mutation.
Now I am hoping he doesn’t ask for her back to breed from her!!
I will be curious to see if she changes as she ages and maybe ends up looking like she is supposed to - for now we know I have a truly unique little chicken!

Her coloring is very similar to my 2 chicks that are BR X WR. (one has more of the slight, but dark barring - she looks like the lighter of the two!)

To start with, Dakota said when the stray dog who dug under the fence was going to kill her, Jaffar attacked him back and nearly lost his life doing so. More to follow.

Shenandoah says that she will only trust the food that sir Jaffar tidbits to her.
Hen-Rietta, my tribal Queen, says that he’s tolerable, and that she actually likes him. (She rarely likes anyone, she’s a Leghorn)
Xzit says that she respects her rooster and will squat on demand anytime. Flash says “go away and don’t bother me with stupid questions!” More to follow.

Hmmm, that sounds a bit like coercion to me. Not sure if that is allowed - nomination signatures should be free and uncoerced.🤔

Hmmm, but maybe a raisin afterwards? Kind of like the little Poppy flowers they give you after donating to the American Legion/VFW??? :idunno
