Even Enzo has his winter coat already. He's so much fluffier.Molting is bad this year. Squirrel is definitely going through a hard molt and some of the others are looking very rough as well. They have had feather fixer for almost a week now to help them through this time. The shed feathers are raked up every afternoon. Each morning it looks like a chicken has exploded underneath the roosts. Friday my brother was convinced with the amount of feathers that something had gotten one of my black hens. No they are all accounted for. He did not believe me until I pointed out to him a naked Squirrel. I am terrible because I did not have a shirt on that hen to keep her warm. I think we are in for a long cold winter. Molting started early in my flock. My horses are backing up my suspicions as Dirt's winter coat is already in and Russ is working hard on his.
I use a board with short deck screws to secure the non-grommited sides. Usually and old piece of door trim. What brand exactly do you use? And how do you secure the three sides that don’t have grommets?
This is such wonderful news. Thank you so much for sharing. This warms my heart.Théo. His life has taken a turn for the better since the last few days, Piou-piou and Merle have agreed to pair with him instead of Gaston !
