Tax or not here’s Shenandoah in the chickens room. She’s behaving herself .
She needed the medication for the stick fleas too. :( Such a sweet bird. IMG_3606.jpeg

Hi everyone ☺️

Just checking in, working long days in west Texas. Looks like I'll be busy through next week. Gonna buy a spa day for Lety to help her de stress. If I can get a day off I will add a roost and shade clothe to the new guinea pen.View attachment 3646281
B safe, and stay hydrated.

Look forward to more great photos!

Anna was not eating or drinking anything on her own today, even with the others doing it around her. Up until this evening. She's spent most of the day hunched, eyes closed, and curled in a ball. It's not clear she's getting better yet.

Around 1pm I syringed 1 ml of treated water but then also about 1ml of hummingbird sugar water, so the corid dose as far as drinking water got halved. I called the vet. The vet called back and said only syringe the Corid water, that they can go three weeks without eating, as long as they're drinking. Also that it could be three days before we see real improvement. I asked and she confirmed that Coccidiosis can kill without lots of bloody diarrhea. I asked what is the mechanism and she wasn't sure off the top of her head.

I said the other two are company for her and everyone's inside but the others could use some outdoor exercise, sometimes jumping around her, sometimes stepping on part of her, and she said to keep her as quiet and calm as possible.

Late this afternoon I was about to syringe fluid again when she came alive, opened her eyes and readily drank from a cup and also ate a little. Then she went back to the warming panel under the towel and fluffed and tucked her head in.

Meanwhile her sisters have been going along with the program confined indoors with her but also going slightly nuts. Though a good third of the room has now become an aviary they need way more open space. So I thought an hour outside for them might work while Anna slept. I left her in the tote and brought the two girls out on my arm and shoulder, dumped the wild water, set up some Corid water and the pen fence. Sure enough the first thing they did was race around, flapping and running.

DH soon came out saying the one upstairs was making noise.

Yup, Anna was yelping, so I quickly went up there while talking to her, unplugged the panel and took her and everything outside and plugged it in there. She immediately took an interest and wanted up and out too, I had to help her, and she went through the motions of foraging in the beans tomato bed and even drank a little more treated water, then closed her eyes, got hunched and still again and I put her in the tote.

But they can see through the tote pretty well, so she would sleep back under the towel and then check on everybody. The two decided to excavate the part of the towel lying next to the tote. I think she doesn't mind the commotion, it's a comfort. Everybody would come back to her too, though they could have gone further afield into the main garden. When they were behind the tote she wanted up again and couldn't jump up, so I put her on the towel for a little while. She seemed content there but she is a sad sight.

Here she is coming out to watch for a bit when they were the furthest away

Again, a different time, she needed to see.

Here she is hanging out on top, there's warmth from the panel below

She's eating and drinking with eyes closed, sort of stabbing in the direction she senses to go and I've been adjusting the placement so she gets something. She doesn't open her eyes unless she really needs to.

Sorry for the long post, it helps to tell you all. ❤️

I hope she recovers.:fl:fl:fl:fl

If you can't give sugar water because it dilutes the corid water...can you take a bit of the corid water and mix in sugar or honey - then dose her, so she gets a bit of 'energy/calories' with her cord treatment?
While you don't feel she is improving - it seems to me that she has a bit of interest in life - if not the energy - otherwise she would be curled up and not care what the others are doing. I'm hoping she can hang on long enough for the corid treatment to kick in.:hugs
