I have to say they are kinda like three brothers who just won't get along, I have to say Buff Buck has kinda found even ground with Herry and they both want Darcy dead! Here is some photos of Darcy and the other two.Watch them closely as to see who is the biggest agitator. There’s always one.
Since they are nicely integrated with the roost ledges (they provide the support?) make them. But from all I’ve seen on BYC and elsewhere there’s no guarantee they’ll get used. But giving them a billion options to choose from seems to be one of the main rules for Hooman Servants in The Way Of The Chicken!Nestboxes…..
My BIL tells me I need more nestboxes. I guess 7 isn’t enough for everyone.
But yes I am going to make a few more nest boxes and put them in the current shavings room which I will turn into Hen House B.
Does everyone think that 6 more is enough? I want them all on one level near the ground or at ground level, and put the roosting ledge up top. I love the ledges I have the are great! And a perfect height for me and the old girls.
The youngsters will argue they want to fly up high but I am not going to let them sway me into putting up a roost way up high. And am thinking that I will run the ledge along the long wall and across the back wall of HH B.
Then underneath I can place the nestboxes.
Does everyone think 6 is enough?
Oh and one of the Azurs laid an egg in the Hen House ‘A’ on the floor, it was scratched around and buried in the shavings, when I walked in I felt a crunch and looked and darn it was a blue egg. Sheesh! So I have it to Buttercup as a treat.
And I found another light tan egg in one of the nest boxes, is it Tippy? I don’t know, she is t squatting for me so maybe she isn’t laying yet.
Well it just occurred to me that the sticktight fleas could be a real hazard to young chickens, and maybe difficult to treat when they are little. After a long night of agonizing thinking, I decided that I wouldn’t be getting any new chicks today. In as much as I want them, I need to concentrate on more important tasks at hand. Baby chicks tend to take lots of time and effort to raise and grow healthy. Time I just cannot afford right now. Understand this, it was not an easy decision for me to make, and it hurts my heart and soul to not fill a brooder with new babies. This decision might make some of you friends sad, but I had to do what makes sense to me. Please don’t tease me about it, don’t mention sorry about it, trust me, I’m sorry enough for everyone!![]()

(Also I took the photos if them fighting while running in to stop it, I had a feeling once they made eye contact that would happen. Non of them were hurt luckily)
That thought also occurred to me, thanksWell it just occurred to me that the sticktight fleas could be a real hazard to young chickens, and maybe difficult to treat when they are little.![]()
