Yes I bet, they need a frost time to bring on the flowers and leaves just like apples do, and pears and plums. Though I think there are cultivars that will grow in warmer climates - GregnLety has an apple tree that grows in his zone.I’m too far south to grow blackberries/ Boysenberries .![]()
Do you get frost there at all?The trees are starting to shed their leaveshere too. I love piling them up, so the chooks can have fun destroying the piles!
Fun for everyone!![]()

Ginger just started on Sunday! She's been super consistent; lays directly on the nest pad next to the ceramic egg at 5 am. Perfectly clean with a hard shell. And no egg song, business only! They are lovely
Have they started laying eggs yet?
scrappy, determined little Poppet! Might be giving Mom a headache, but you go girl!!!Quarantine only works if the chooks cooperate. If Branch is not rushing inside to meet Poppet when I open the door, Poppet is now rushing out. Thankfully each time I have managed to grab her before she rushed headlong into the stalls. She has already had a scrap with Corona because she ran right into her group of chicks. At this point, Poppet is confined not for bio-security but for her own safety. I want to establish to her where home is before I attempt supervised free-ranging.
