This one is really great, the lighting, color and composition

I think is used one of these with them eating the squash for the Fall competition BYC has going on right now.

Autumn is a great time to take photos as the sunlight is at a lower angle in the sky, makes everything golden

I count 34
There were 29 chickens, then you realized it's 30, maybe, and now really it's 34, at least today, including the ones you have named, and we're assuming you named every one?

Don't worry! Congratulations are in order! You are getting into the upper leagues, the elite of chicken keeping, where people don't know how many chickens they have and they don't care! They stopped trying to count and everything is better. But you're still trying. Why? Well, what happened was that folks here wanted accuracy, and your response was to be accurate to a high degree. Stop that!

To really establish your standing in that elite group, just start using ranges of numbers from now on. Say out loud, "Oh, there's about 30-35 chickens here." See? Don't you feel everything's better already?

This also makes getting more chickens way easier. No worries about taking your relatives chicks, or breaking broodies. A total win-win! How? Just start using broader ranges! Say out loud, "Oh, I suppose there's about 30-40 chickens here." Isn't that satisfying? It's (probably) accurate and puts off those nosy nerds at the same time. Doesn't that feel great?

Aaaaaaaaa! Nooooooo! Chicken math!!!!!


Here is something - in order for me to legally be able to sell eggs I must have under 100 chickens - so I could just say there are less than 100 birds. So I can have up to 99 chickens. (After that I need to purchase an egg quota).

Hahaha actually I do only have 30 - I added the last four names as a tease - they are ponies’ names whom I know of.

And like a demented fool I go around counting them all the time… 4, babies, 4 Allison’s, 3 Shelly’s, 3 black pullets, 2 white ones, 1 grey, 3 crazy Azurs, and my 10 - and hope I didn’t double count or miss anyone!

Maybe an older quiet Roo like Mr P who is past the dumb a$$ stage - maybe a nice silkie Roo or a pretty Polish - or a lovely Cochin, oh right sorry forgot no feathered legs. How about a banty Sebright?

It would be hard for me to tuck 30 chooks in at night. I pet and check each one, (For crop issues) then say their names and tell them they are loved .

I do that for 30 - and I mostly remember names sometimes I just scream get you butt in bed sister. They ignore me of course.
