These are the two ladies who will be joining our flock. They're so cute!

I would say Satin Silkies - or maybe Cochin crosses - they are sure adorable - what are their names? Do you know how much they weigh? gosh they are lovely

You all know I have a thing for black chickens, so this was a very special moment for me.
Tassels and Calypso. The sequence ends when Tassels takes a chunk of my finger.

Ouch! Tassels really didn't get too many feathers on her legs did she? But wow love Calypso's beard and muffs, she reminds me of Petunia

Not for long. Winter storm advisory goes into effect tonight, lasting 24 hours here, longer in other nearish areas. Then Blanch, PITA, and Quartz will blend instead.

I see that in Alberta and Saskatchewan also, how cold are they calling for? It will be 20C here today - and the rest of the week in the high teens, crazy weather seems anything goes.

Not sure yet! I was thinking Samara and Morinth from Mass effect for their names. I know they're smaller than the standard hens she has though!

Hello Blazinga! Did she delete her account, I can’t find her in a search. Is she still drawing? If I’m thinking of the right person, she did some great chicken pictures!

Tax Two-fer:

Sunny (left) and Squeak (right) say hello from mom's lap. At one point, I had all 4 Bielefelders on my lap/arm of the chair. I was nice and warm.

I have an idea for something to sit on in the coop for cold days. It'll be a pad, basically, made out of chicken feed bags. Something I can hang up out of their reach when I'm not there so that it stays clean. Well, one side needs to stay clean.

It's going to be warm (low 70s!) today. After that, fall reasserts herself. I'll be removing the chair from the run soon enough. I think the plastic will get way too brittle during the really cold winter temps, and I won't be sitting out there anyway.
