Well, I got what I deserve.

I am eating my udon noodle outside and Honey so quickly snatched the giant prawn out of the bowl I was completely taken by surprise.

Oh I would also give her a Curly and Marty (whom I know Mr P has bred), and maybe Fluffy’s….. I know she can raise 4 easy….

She's determined and who knows when you'll get another Penelope egg....(that is the one in the pic, right?) AND have a broody....

And set aside Curly and Fluffy’s eggs from today…. Marty laid an egg yesterday but I don’t remember which one in my bowl was hers from yesterday - I have 4 in the bowl from the past week for her.

It’s 17C in the office here is that too cool to store eggs?

I don't think so on the temp....did read an article about the possibility of cooler temps increasing chances of pullets. (Last year, so not sure where it was, but likely on BYC).

Hey, I am innocent this time. But, if you are thinking along that route, 2 Marty eggs. Increases the chances of the desired pullet. Momma hen proved last year chicks can successfully raised in cold weather. Also, it is about time the older gals go on strike anyway from egg laying. If they are raising chicks they are not technically free-loading.

Yes I am also not worried about the cold weather, Henny raised chicks hatched end of Oct a couple yrs ago, and that Nov was brutally cold, one of the coldest winters in years in fact. My worry is as always getting Roos. Chicks are tougher than we give them credit.

I will think on the Marty thing. I don’t have to use curly and fluffy eggs, I can throw 3 Marty eggs under her, I could likely throw in all the four I have from Marty. My only concern is the quality of Marty’s eggs, lately they have been odd long eggs, and a funny shell, it’s strong enough but rough textured.

And a frizzle Polish cross pullet like Floyd would be real cute, so of course a Curly egg has to be used….. Curly’s a splash like P so guess it would be splash…. Oh the dilemma of it all.

Think I will just sit on my lawn chair here and mull it all over. I have a few days I don’t have to set Penelope’s egg right away…

AND there is the whole experience thing, Henny has already successfully raised a batch of four. Even with all my stupidity and knowing nothing about chickens then! Ha!

Oh yes I remember that article, but I think it more pertained to hatching out more pullets than cockerel, as the gender of the egg is already set, unlike with reptiles.

Odd long funny eggs? maybe they are a sports model type?
