No snow, just cold, cold, cold.
Grandma is not pleased.
So unpleased that she has no idea that she has a piece of grass in her mouth.

Update: It was snowing a lot as well as sunny, however, once I got outside, all the snow was gone. Perhaps it was the sun that melted it. This was yesterday.

Little was roosting with the others! There were 7 birds on that roost. Plus one on the poop board, and 3 on the other roosts.

Well, that is what nappies are for, you know! Besides, if you set up a small roost with a drop board below in the corner...and have an old sheet or something similar on the floor that can be picked up - shaken off outside, and then washed, presto! Instant chicken area! Even if it is just for night-time - since she doesn't have anyone to snuggle with to keep warm on the really cold nights.

Remember, Marie: necessity is the mother of invention!

You will figure something out that will allow her to be inside some. Do you have a mudroom/entryway? That might be even better - easier to set up poop safe area AND will be a bit cooler than the rest of the house/flat, so not such a great temperature swing from in the house to out in the run. Temperature swings are hard on animals.

2nd really cold night in a row and I am already over it. 20 something this morning when Rosie got on the bus. Horses water buckets frozen solid and the water hose froze. The leghorns must have started laying as soon as the sun came up. I did first egg run at 9 this morning, 2 eggs froze and cracked darn it.

Xzit tells me when it’s time for her to go to the bathroom. She’ll be persistent until she gets what she wants. She doesn’t like pooping in the house. But she loves her deep hackle rubs and soft talk with me. Rocks have feelings too!
(That didn’t sound good did it?)
