My brother's hen was tested. It was mycoplasma. That's how he saved her other eye, treating her for the mycoplasma. She had 2 other outbreaks in her life that he had to treat.
So maybe the blindness is from corneal scarring? Would that come from toxins the bacteria puts out, be the cause of the excess fluid and bubbles, like there's irritation?

6 is a good number for us. Maybe next time we have to add.
If I add one more to my chickens, you have to. Why? Because I have six, you have six, so why not both have seven? And why not add another blue egg layer? We have all brown except two blue egg layers and one white, and, if I'm not mistaken, so do you (except swap one of our blue eggers for a brown, which is why you need another).

Jumping in here to say whenever possible our friend likes to add in groups of 2 or more. I think for his yard size and coops and flock dynamics in general 6 is his happy number. He also has a legbar, Glenda. She is a Frost Legbar. Best of both worlds for him, blue eggs and she reminds him of his beloved leghorns..

I do not know the mechanism. I need to reach out to experts but I haven't had time. Unlike other scientists are prone to do these days, I'm not going to venture a guess and say it's a fact. I will find out.

I have a pink egg layer.

She is so beautiful. I just love watching her zip around the yard.
