Yay for getting a girl.
Now, for Fluffy's handsome boy you have time. I would start now knowing for sure he is a boy. List him expecting it to take time to place. I would advertise him as a Polkie, silkie x polish cross. I would also throw in pictures of dear departed Floyd to show a "example" of what he may end up looking like as he grows. Obviously different color, but possibly same body type. Add in pictures of Mr. P and Fluffy in the listing. He may surprise you and have interest right away. If he does, you have to decide if you want them to wait a few weeks until he is weaned or if you want to place him right away. If he is 3ish weeks old, I would be inclined to go ahead and place if they are set up to finish brooding him out, but that is your decision. Another thing to ponder on while he is listed if it takes time. You may find with him being the only boy Mr P and the girls may be more receptive to a young roo. He could be the 2nd in command that Mr. P could use. Time will tell.

He might be a kinder, gentler roo, given he is half Mr. P And, honestly, Mr. P DOES need help with all those ladies!!!

I have time to see how he behaves.

And while I am sad to not have a Marty baby, having a Curly frizzle baby girl is really eggciting.

Honestly! I think I worry too much about those chooks! Head count and crop check…. Where’s Dakota?
She was no where near the coop. I found her on the porch pretending she was nibbling on something. I know that old trick. But tonight she stays in the coop with the other birds.

I am eggcited to see what Betty turns out like; I am certain she will be frizzle and a splash.

Bert may also turn out splash like Mr P. I will likely wait till he is weaned to list him, and yea by then I will know if he will behave, I have had a Fluffy boy before and he was a terror! Long before he was weaned!

Well, before, you did not have Mr. P. and several older hens. Really, that is a huge part in bringing up a well mannered young boy. Bert will have a shot the other's this summer and in the past did not. He will be the ONLY young male. Mr. P and your girls will only have him to focus on teaching him to mind his place. He will also have no brothers who he will feel compelled to fight for position making him a jerk. This really could be the perfect set-up for you a new boy. Ok, no more pressure on his tiny little shoulders. Bert is a baby, let us all enjoy him for what he is right now. A cute ball of fluff.

I have loathed Christmas for too long to remember. I had a Christmas tree for years and didn't bother to put it up.

When repairs were being done on the mold in my spare room, there was one work man that continually kept complaining about the amount I had stored in my spare room ( I have to admit I really didn't like this guy) he really got up my nose but I bit my tongue and just about kept my cool ( that was hard I have to say). I got so fed up after days of is b-tching that I just threw my tree and 2 of my stand alone air-conditioning out. I made him take it.

Today I bought myself a tiny little tree just for a little festive atmosphere with two little battery fairy lights hahaha

Here is where they are just hatched.

I had a feeling Fluffy’s was a boy as he is more aggressive- grabbing and pecking at the other chick - but then again chicks grab and peck by default.

But glad one is a pullet.

Yes I was thinking same thing, and really we do have lots of time. Winter is just starting and I would not want him to be going someplace where he might be thrown out in the cold. I know these silkies don’t handle the cold well.
