I just called the clinic and we can bring her this afternoon to have her hospitalised.
I hate doing this because the last time we did it was for Caramel and she died there after several days hospitalised, alone, without her flock. I promised myself then that I wouldn't let this happen again. But Kara is younger and she doesn't look like she is going to die yet, so maybe it's better to try and get a diagnosis as soon as possible.
It's a two hours ride..and our first day of snow today 🙁.
I really wish we had a vet who looked at chickens closer to our place. It's so difficult to make the decision whether to take them or not.

@Ponypoor she is what you looked at that was called Noirans. Marans X Harko hybrid. Seeing that she lays everyday I suppose she is a production birds.
Drive safe, or I guess now it evening there so hope you made it back safe… will read ahead in the thread.

Monday Mugs

I noted while I was away that Babes comb is now flopping over!

Ruth also - not sure if she is laying or not as I have not caught her in any nest boxes.

Babe:
This is from a month or so ago, I will need an updated one.

Ruth
Also from about a month or so ago, she has a nice squiggly comb that’s starting to flop over.

I should not have followed the Pernskitey Poultry page when I saw that gorgeous mottled silkie. First thing that pops up on my facebook feed this morning. Mottled juvenile available, with a black companion. Dang it, sis was just in South Carolina last week visiting the Biltmore estate.
I feel that, I follow twoguysandsomeland and they have stunning Brahmas they put up on FB on occasion and the cutest little Cayuga (sp?) ducks that are black/iridescent green!! I do not even want ducks but they tempt me every time.

I have the same problem here with vets but no transport. If I could I'd have more chickens but I'm not able bodied and getting worse. But even if I could cope I wouldn't have any more because of the lack of vets and the over charging that goes on here.

I'm seriously wishing you all the luck in the world. Please try not to leave her there. She's better in her own little home

Sorry, I apologize Kelly, I should have updated you all as you have been so helpful. We actually postponed taking her because of the snow, my partner will drive her tomorrow morning.
More details on my thread and I will let you know how the visit went tomorrow.
