Tis the season for babies it seems. My cat has been just racing around from window to window. Couldn’t see anything, but when I just went to do evening chores I sure could hear them! Owls - hooting and hollering up a storm 😁 sounded like some scuffles going on over territory, this is their breeding season up here, they have their chicklets in January, they are true northern creatures.

This way they don’t have to compete for nesting spots with other raptors in the spring, and rabbits are still plentiful, and many Hares still not fully changed to winter white yet. So easy prey. It’s a time of plenty for Owls and babies will be born. Henny must be an Owl 😁.

Yes, some are quite poopy - they haven't all figured out to lay in the nest box - instead they are in random spots! Just for comparison, the egg in the center, though slightly elongated, is a standard large size egg (from my older hen) The others are all pullet eggs.
Those are some lovely eggs, and I love that teeny one 💕

What a great idea! I could tie a rope to it up on the dock. Now to go convince my husband to build it next spring 🤣
And @RoyalChick but what do you do in winter? That's the problem! Because you RC have an unused pool, once taken up by ducks temporarily as I recall (fox chased them away, or got one?). Maybe winter quarters would be a smaller setup, with heated pumped water into those horse bins? I once saw someone had a pump situation for their ducks, with filters and all, kept the water running and clean. I don't recall if it was winter-worthy though.

Here's tonight's roosting:
All three Spuds and one Buckeye are on the roost platform.

And one Buckeye in the nest box. I can't tell from here who is who. I didn't see the arrangements as they developed which usually helps.
