My poor little one has had around 10 minutes in the garden all week and this was yesterday, it's been windy cold and very wet.
She wandered into the hallway yesterday then chased the cat around the living room before going back into her coop.

I'm so annoyed with the people I ordered her nappy from. The lazy sods took 4 days too post this item after payment they have ignored my message on enquiries as to why even after 9 days it's still not here.

I was stunned too see the postal address its being sent from is not so far away . Guess who'll be getting bad feedback as soon as this arrives.

Breaking free 😊

You need to thunk about the snow a bit differently...."forest fire prevention tool" is my preferred term for the white stuff. So far, it's not looking good for next summer.

Oddly, most of my tribe spent much of the day up around the house yesterday. Temps hovered just below freezing, but the wind was bitterly cold. Castor also wasn't his usual self. Do we have a change in the weather coming?

After weeks of being 100+ pgs behind I finally made it! Busy busy. This time of year is when our Broadway shows start coming through, while I am grateful for the work, it makes for a very long week. Did one show the week or so before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving with all the family, a show last weekend and on Sunday my mother in law passed away.
Our weather has been swinging like crazy. Below freezing for 3 days followed by torrential rain and almost 70! Yesterday was a mostly sunny if cool reprieve. Today has been cold and wet, don't think we got above 38. The days are so short I hardly see my chickens, but I popped out to hang with them for a min or two recently.

Yesterday was a glorious day for December, we had a high of 12C, overnight though it rained almost continuously - and the temperature dropped steadily from 11 when I went to the barn at 8pm, the 3C now this morning.

We already reached the high of the day at 5am of 4C, the temps are supposed to drop to +2C this afternoon, and lots of wind.

Snow is predicted for the whole week, so we will get that ‘forest fire protection’. It’s not supposed to get very cold though, and the ground won’t be frozen when the snow falls, so it will be a mucky mess with those horses tromping through it all.

Christmas 2022
Not much snow last year, I put some hay down on the snow for the chooks

I wonder in the meantime if you can make a temporary diaper for her out of some old towels, and use safety pins to hold it in place…?

I’m hiding in the house. A neighbor from town is trying to find me. She’s a lunatic and I can never tell from which planet she comes from week by week.
I swear that the Central Valley orchards insecticides, are bleeding into certain peoples water supply! If she finds me, she’ll talk my ears off and then ask for money 💰. I am safe as long as she doesn’t see me.

I've been thinking about this post all night. I like to help people, but I don't like to 'enable', and I am not by any means wealthy. My approach would be: speak with her outside - at a picnic table or standing at your fence - or something like that (she probably is lonely. ) If/when she does ask for money - my policy is: I do not give money to the homeless etc. If they really need something, I will buy them a bag of groceries or such - but I do not give money (for those who I am close to and want to help - I also generally don't give money, either - I quietly pay their electric bill or such anonymously). Feel free, when she asks, to state something like "It is my policy to not give money/cash to people - I give to authorized charities locally. If you are hungry, I will happily buy you some food at the grocery store" Or whatever iteration works for you. Be polite but firm, and if she starts harassing you for money after that statement, say, again, firmly but politely. "I've given you my answer - I think you should leave now. If you can't handle my personal response, please don't come back, as while I enjoyed our conversation, I do not like to be harassed. (It is, I think, okay to lie a little white lie about enjoying the conversation...I think everyone needs to feel valued - but it doesn't mean you need to be taken advantage of - and you should stand firm on that. I will give people some of my time, but I worked too hard for what money I have to give it away and potentially be used in a manner I can't abide by. You could also refer her to local charities that help with whatever she states she wants the money for.

Polite but firm! Since you were in law enforcement - I KNOW you can do both simultaneously. I hope this helps.

:yaYay! Mommy says I'm Handsome! and can stay instead of going to some camp or other!:ya
(Well, she actually says I'm pretty nice for a hormonal idiot and handsome, but I'm all about the HANDSOME part! Right Ladies;))
See how handsome I am:

I have some brothers (like, a whole bunch) and she is contemplating keeping one more, but can't decide if it will be Harry or Joe (I'm joking about the names, she hasn't named them yet - but those two names are just your average, run-of-the-mill names, like them - they aren't SPECTACULAR like me!!)

He is handsome and I glad he will stay. Hopefully he continues to behave 😊

Caturday special
I spy 6 animals in the first pic, 3 and 3.

I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL, especially around the holidays, as it seems to then be a constant reminder - even when you ha ve had enough time to get into a decent space about it!:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

I hope the extra work with the shows mean overtime? Or does it just mean a 'fuller paycheck'?
