No, it's worse than that. It's a weird combination of fruity lollypop hard candy enclosing a Tootsie roll center. Not very good imo, a cheap imitation of how fine chocolate and candied or dried fruit can go nicely together.

Candy snob tax:
Last night's roosting. I moved the coop camera, much better. Hazel and Popcorn in the adults area

Spuds all snug in the kid's box

This morning. Netting holding up, but the goldenrod grown through it with snow in the middle of the picture is now bending and leaning on the fence. Will clear that.

Maybe you can do something about all the rest of that white stuff too?

How are you feeling?

I wonder in the meantime if you can make a temporary diaper for her out of some old towels, and use safety pins to hold it in place…?
They had the cheek from hell today. They wrote and told me too be patient :rant
I received an email message telling me it was being delivered today then it delayed it again by another day.

I've never known Princess to constantly walk in here but she did four times today 😳 I'm so peed off with these money grabbing let downs

I want to be with you the cat and dog mom

Raising the Roof
The roof on the Hattie house is not solid. It is made from wire mesh covered by a piece of tarp. No one is living there so all I want is to keep it dry. It looks like this when viewed from the bottom.

I was checking on the ladies today and I noticed moisture in the coop portion. I pulled the tray out and found this.

Éowyn has been hanging out on the roof and I figure her nails have poked holes in the tarp.

There is a huge rain storm coming tomorrow so I figured I should act quickly. The one thing I really don't want is Hattie House rotting away. I searched what was on hand and I have the pieces of metal left over from the coop roof. So I decided to use 2 of them over lapped. I didn't really have time to trim them up so there is now an overhang on the front. That should help with rain hitting the front anyway.

It was a petty easy fix.

Surprisingly the lack of a roof did not deter the ladies from using the Hattie house today.

It looks great! That little overhang may help some of the structural wood last a bit longer. Haha look at those girls seeking refuge in a roofless home 🤪

He is handsome and I glad he will stay. Hopefully he continues to behave 😊

Thanks! I just tested positive for Covid. Probably got it on the crowded gig on Saturday, though I masked. Started feeling bad on Wednesday, tested negative Thursday, didn't bother Friday, thought it must be the flu.
:hugs

I said out loud, "that cat is really gorgeous". And my puss jumped up and loudly meowed

Oh too bad Peavey Mart doesn’t have those 😊

But I did score 3, 4’ LED shop lights that I put on a timer so that in the morning when the chooks are up and about and I finish chores at 6am I don’t have to turn out the lights and leave them in the dark till the sun comes up at 8am.

And horse feed was 50% off 😊
I'm trying too find a completely wet proof extension lead. I know I said no more chickens  but but but
Well let's put it this way, I'm really having great contact with this this rescue.

They've found me a vet that treats chickens and have great reviews on all the animals they care for. Plus they do something called a payment plan.
