So wonderful to spend a couple of hours working in the sunshine!
Started clouding up fast around 2:30-3
Merlin dashing down the side yard with Rosie showing shes boss.

They hid in their sheltered spots most of the day, until I went inside.

Action photo - love it 😁

I can’t remember when last we had sunshine - it was well before Christmas. But that’s ok, it’s been mild so I am good with it!

It's great to have the space and wherewithal for so many chickens I think. I am calling your pinwheel shots the Ziegfeld Follies!
Oh yes that is what they are 😊👍 I should have take some video of them circling about it. They just love that textured feed - they tend to eat all the grains and leav the pellets so they have to clean it all up before they get more.

They really actually like all the Hi-Pro feeds I am getting now. I make their morning porridge out of 1/2 and 1/2, 21% starter and 17% layer pellets. Everyone really enjoys it from the babies to old Red.

Snow: arrives during the darkest part of the year - very dreary.
Snow is light-reflecting, even with the sun low in the sky. Without snow darkness comes faster on these short days. It is frozen waves on a windswept field. It is frosty pink at dawn and glows salmon at sunset. It brightens up even a cloudy day, and moonlit nights are extraordinary.

Thank you, I couldn't remember who it was. I wonder how the wild chickens are doing now, and the mama who would would come by with her babies.
We last heard from her in January of 23. At that time I think Kiko was doing well.

Yes snow will brighten up things for sure.

I still love that photo of her one tail feather 😊💕

That's very poetic.

I'm not. I need some sun soon.
I only fear that if it clears it turn -20C 😟 at least with this cloud cover it’s been too mild to worry about extremely cold weather.

And while yes a clear January full moon night gleaming on snow is very bright, it’s also extremely cold which I hate. I am dreading those conditions more than a lack of sunlight.

More and more I dread winter cold, today I did chores and came back to the house I was too cold to work out there. Even poor Marty and Red were cold I took pity and put them in the feedroom early yesterday.
