An interesting angle for fluffy butt Friday


I had a damaged pumpkin in my pantry so the chooks got it. We're supposed to be getting some winter weather this weekend so I gave them stuff to do. Pumpkin, fresh sandy dirt in their dust bath, and tomorrow if I can get out there early enough I'll do a full coop clean with new bedding.

Weather is supposed to be ok here, I need to get another load of straw bales tomorrow so it better be nice!

My neighbor has 4 3 chickens "at large." It was two each, black and white, but one of the black ones has probably been a raccoon's dinner. Or one of the feral cats that roams the area.

These 3 chickens mostly go to the other neighbor's house, as they have a few (wild) bird feeders and neat places to scratch around. The other neighbor sent around a picture of what they found in a corner by their stoop. Yup, about 3 dozen eggs.

I know that this is a drastic measure, but I had to do something about Dakota. That hunger for heavy metal music had to stop, so she’s locked up in my old animal carrier, and I’m playing Simon and Garfunkel, Scarborough fair, over and over again. I know it’s cruel, but what else can I do?
