Are we talking chicken dinosaurs?
My brain just freezes thinking about that. I literally cannot comprehend those temperatures.
Today here it is 12F (-11C) and I just want to hibernate. Letter there will be strong winds so I guess that will make it even worse.
The are beautiful. Gorgeous chickens.Happy Mugs Monday!
Eli is contemplating her life decisions (meaning why she let me catch her) Also, she was holding my handI am so happy that she has settled in. I’m sure it was odd for her to be rehomed and it took a while for her to become part of the flock. Now she and BBQ are allies when it comes to chasing the babies.View attachment 3726572

Ruby is my favorite chick. She has such a calm, friendly personality. She comes up to me and wants to cuddle.View attachment 3726575

Gumbo has grown so much. It’s scary how big he is. He’s almost the size of Pastel.

Opal is also a sweet baby. I’m still not sure what she is. Perhaps I’m seeing a slight beard, or just feathers under her chin?

Polish are amazing! So, my mom said that I could get the silkies. When I reached out to the owner, I found out that they were rehomed on Thursday. I am so bummed out. I really wanted them, and I was so happy to finally get silkies. I keep telling myself that it’s only two more months until I get my Polishes.
So glad you found him a home.Happy Monday, my fellow chicken tenders! I have no mugs to share, but here's my sub-zero flock.View attachment 3726625
Or, part of them at least. I took this pic yesterday and thought, "Where's Sheba?" I went in the coop...no Sheba. I looked out the window, thinking maybe we were playing tag. No Sheba. I finally found her huddled under the low table we have the heated dog bowl of water on! I suppose it's both warm and Randy Rooster proof. She came out when I petted her (because she hates it) and I fed the poor naked girl some mealworms. She has gone back to roosting, so there's that.
Speaking of Randy...this may be my last picture of him.View attachment 3726626
A lady I've been chatting with on Facebook hopefully will come get him tonight! I'm quite pleased because she has 18 chickens, plans on more in the spring, and has mentioned hatching eggs to see if Randy makes pretty babies.I admit, he's a fine looking boy.
So he'll be free-ranging with a harem of ladies, instead of in someone's soup pot. This makes me happy!
8 weeks old tomorrowCrowing! How old is Bert now?
And how cute, Blanche in a barrow![]()
