I can’t really complain about the weather with the temperatures that @RebeccaBoyd, @rural mouse, and others are handling.
Nonetheless it is cold and windy and nasty here and the Princesses are barely going out into the run.
Bernie put on a show of bravado for about 25 seconds. And then saw sense.

The mystery of the prints in the snow is solved. And watch past the end of the Chicken Palace - s/he has a big friend (parent?) in tow.

I think I need to hot-wire that area so they don’t get too used to coming around. I have a wire on insulators already fitted and it would not be very hard to connect it to the live terminal. But the ground is complicated because they are elevated up on the open run roof.

If I have enough spare insulated wire I could run a ground wire directly back to the energizer maybe. I need to look up if that is safe to do and see if I have enough wire. And maybe it doesn’t need to be insulated. Need to look that up too.

It is so cold out there I find it hard to do more than a few minutes before I need to come back in. And I think my brain cells freeze up too.
Wow just wow 😳 holy Dinah! That just freaks me out! So glad you have such a good coop there.

Fahrenheit! It was 17 (-8C) when I got home. Considering its been below zero (-17C) for the last several days (and hit -40 at one point, not including wind chill), HEAT WAVE! Sunbathing (provided it breaks through the cloud cover) is happening, now!
I noticed tonight that it was lighter later! Yay! And we had a goodly amt of sun, of course sun means cold.

So pretty and so deadly.

Oh wow that’s nippy! The one the ng with that cold weather here is, we are used to it and have the facilities to deal with it (water trough de-icing, barns, etc), I feel for those who are not used to getting this weather and struggle with the frozen pipes and such.

Oh and leave a tap running so your water doesn’t freeze up - just thought of that one!

I might whine and complain about the weather here but I know that am set up to handle months of it, not like some of you in the lower latitudes, gosh I really feel for you all 😟😟😟
Well you sent it to us. You should feel bad.
