She relented after a while. Something tells me she'll be the one to raise my next generation of chicks when the time comes
Last summer I shoved 3 silkies and a mutt under my to co-broody silkies (Fluffy and Curly), here they are enjoying the dirt haha

Uh-huh. And something tells me four more chicks will be shoved under a broody or hatched under one this year.

YES, broody hens could teach us humans a bit about raising children:

Keep them warm and protected, show them how to find food, be a chicken and to get along with others - stand up for them when needed, learn what to do when danger is present, and learn the different types of dangers - and, give them a good stern peck when they don't 'listen to their elders'

Teach them to enjoy a good dust bath and sunbath when the opportunity presents, and how to be a good and helpful friend -preen those you love, as there are always spots you can't reach yourself, and a good friend helps you out and provides a good snuggle buddy when it is cold!

You forget that "good and helpful friend" in the chicken world also means raiding @RoyalChick's storage facilities.

I think that falls under 'up for an adventure'/being curious and a good flyer!!

Although, being good friend does generally mean a willingness to be a look-out! :lau
