Well, well, well, I still have it. I personally have neglected the horses and stalls for a good year and a half now. I did not have time to do outside chores. I went out yesterday afternoon for a egg swoop. Noticed a hen in Russ's stall so went in to see if she had a egg, she didn't. Scratched Russ's butt a second and spied the pitch fork leaning against the stall. Before, if it did not require a deep clean I could have a stall spotless in about 15 minutes. That allowed time to scratch on said horse, shove their butt out of the way and such. It took about 20 minutes start to finish. Russ was itchy, he is shedding and he kept getting in the way asking for a butt scratching. Once I was done I grabbed the ShedEz tool and went to town on him. Ahh springtime, I came in wearing more horse hair then he has on him. Rosie popped her head out of the door to scold me. Yes, I know it is not smart to wear crocs out working with the horses. Do not follow my example and go away, dishes are calling your name.
Yep the hairy horse syndrome. Know it well 😁

Crocs - nope not around Truly, she can be 20’ away and still manage to tromp on my feet.

I don’t dare go out with the shavings fork, the girls will be on me like flies on 💩- and I will have to give them a good raking and have hair everywhere, because that is what Hoomans at for. The animal rights people are cracked - it’s us Hoomans that are the slaves! Not the animals - at least around here!

Now is a good time for you to throw a leg over a horse and go for a ride 😊 I might grab Lulu after to throw down hay and finish chores and go for a ride.

Good work Larry!
Is there any concern that her propensity for thin shelled eggs would be passed down?
Well she is a production breed so always a chance for anything. But as Mr P is a Polish her offspring would be mutts.

Then again Penelope is a poor layer - having maybe 2 or 3 a week in her hay day, now she hasn’t laid an egg since last fall - and seems her daughter Dorothy is the same. I am ok with the not laying often bit.

Anyways long time till 02 May things could change - we shall see what goes on then.

I will be on Russ eventually. This week I have done some major spring cleaning, and heavy lifting and moving. I FEEL it. I am out of shape big time and my legs and back are screaming. I do not even think I could climb on top of Russ if I used the picnic table as a mounting block. I am tired, but it is a good tired if you know what I mean. I am back to being covered in hair daily and I love it. Dirt has missed me as well and my nails. I cannot walk around back without one of the boys backing their big butts up to me and giving me the "Look". They have been deprived of butt scratches and they are letting me know it.

Take it easy getting back into your old normal. Getting hurt by doing too much wouldn't be good, either. Enjoy the fact that they all WANT your attention. A little each day is better than all at once. I'm aiming for a wheelbarrow a week out of the coop until it's cleaned out. Just don't have the stamina for all at once.

Well, I did it to myself Tuesday morning. Monday evening my brother dropped a bombshell on me. He was getting a new bed and it was being delivered the next morning. Wanted to know if I wanted his old one. As far as comfortable mattresses go he has had the best one in the house in my opinion. Yes I want it. I also had to take the heavy as crap headboard and footboard. My brother's new outfit was delivered at 8 am Tuesday morning. Therefore I had to move mine out of the way. While it was out perfect time to wash the wall, and deep clean the carpet under the bed you know. Then we had to drag his to my room and set it up. Had a short break while he deep cleaned his floor and walls. That was followed by shoving his new bed into his room and helping set it up. We were under a time crunch as he needed it done before he went to work. Did not have dad to help us as he was with mom and Jack at the vets. Then Russ broke his stall and the chicken roosts. Someone had to help him fix it. In truth I needed those distractions and physical activity. The first couple days if I sat down, I had time to think and that was bad.

Oh ya I know that look well also, I have been sneaking out to the manure pile today so the girls don’t see me and want ‘attention’, but alas they have better hearing than me so they found me. I am grungy my nails are filthy and I have horse hay up my nose and I just found a silkie feather in my hair haha it’s white so like Fluffy. I think she is moulting I see white fluffy feathers everywhere.

I have found another large opening in the loft floor I had forgotten about so that will need to be covered and that means riding won’t happen.

But I just needed to sit down and take a break so I have joined the sunbathing beauties club.

Have to say I am sure glad you’re getting back to doing some enjoyable tasks 😊💕

I hear you, I am pooped - sitting here relaxing and what do I see more blood on Mr P and it looks like his wattle is torn - well what the heck now 😟

I will deal with this tonight when he is roosting - I am too tired to chase him down. I just bet him and Bert have been scrapping- now where is the little prince so o can check him out….
