Sneaky girls. Grackle is acting like she is thinking of going broody. She came out from between the hay like a mad wet hen clucking up a storm. I have been checking this spot and for over a week no one has attempted to lay in it. Well, that has changed as you can see.

Grackle's egg is not in there, makes me wonder if I need to double check this spot tonight. I had to use the hoe to scoot the eggs where I could reach them.

Do not give me that look, no babies.

I could go on and on because all of my chickens are judgy. Especially Bolt and Opal.

The ones not pictures are Crystal, Eli, Aphrodite and the six other Polish.

I am questioning that chick. Is it a silkie? I see black feet and what appears to be black skin. Cannot tell if it has leg feathers.

It is from a blue egg layer, and if it has fuzzy legs and dark skin it would be a Bert baby.

So far 4 blue eggs hatched the fifth pipped, and two off the silkie eggs pipped. Hopefully all the silkies will be pipped and hatched by morning. And the fifth blue egg should be hatched.

The light one is a lavender Orpington and the dark one is a Midnight Majesty Marans - she has fuzzy legs

I was super happy to see both of them have a good long drink before lights out and the Orp has a full crop. I dumped a bunch of feed in front of Curly so the chicks could snack without coming out from under her, it’s a bit chilly. I will try to get the MMarans to eat more tomorrow. It’s supposed to be really nice all weekend so hopefully I can get them outside a bit.
