Dang it, I missed Drinks with Chooks day. ByBob, please warn us when extra fun theme days are headed our way! I would put it on the calendar and make something happen. View attachment 3843058
This sorry excuse of a photo… that drink cup held not Chardonnay, but meal worms 😩

Here is someone who was not complaining about that. Wee chick! Now likely named Pips.
Same day every year. Put it in your phone calendar. I did. I don't want to miss that one again.

Curly

And her wee chicks

The light one is a lavender Orpington and the dark one is a Midnight Majesty Marans - she has fuzzy legs 😊

I was super happy to see both of them have a good long drink before lights out and the Orp has a full crop. I dumped a bunch of feed in front of Curly so the chicks could snack without coming out from under her, it’s a bit chilly. I will try to get the MMarans to eat more tomorrow. It’s supposed to be really nice all weekend so hopefully I can get them outside a bit.
Cute :love

No By Bob did, his frizzy cuckoo polish hen Betty, who has since passed away. I named my baby frizzle polish x silkie after her 🌹🌹🌹

School chick update

Seems all the blue egg chicks have hatched out - not sure where that black one comes from and is that other a lavender?

And now 4 of the silkie eggs have pipped, sure hope they all hatch by days end.

The black one, that one is a Bert baby. Actually with your breeds and crosses any chicks with black feet and or skin, Bert babies. That is silkie traits he is passing down. Come on wee silkies, hatch out. I want to see what you all look like.

It’s bad enough that I started crying when I saw that Gracie died, but this made me bawl my eyes out.
Losing my first dog last year, and my second dog three years ago is all too soon. Coach was only a few months older than me. I literally knew him from the day I was born.
I got Dina when I was a few years old. Amazing, sweet black lab. She got cushings disease (I think that’s how it’s spelled) and died at eight. She was a few years younger than me.
Losing Coach just last year still breaks my heart. I miss him and Dina like crazy.
Having other dogs helps though. Two weeks after Dina died, my parents bought two puppies. (Crazy, I know.) they are three and a half years old now, and I can’t imagine life without them.
They helped me get through Dina’s death, and my pup and I helped each other through Coach’s. She needed me when he passed, and I needed her. Having another dog always helps.
Just as Daffy said, Rebecca, CeeCee needs you and you need her :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs
My dog passed away last year as well. I got her in 2018, when she was 9. She was passed over a few times before we adopted her, and when we met her, we fell in love. It was utterly astounding that nobody had wanted her, as she was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. Nearly a year before she passed, we got another dog, by which point, she was about 14, with multiple health issues. They didn't pay much attention to each other while she was still here, but after she passed, he wouldn't go where her bed was, or any of her favorite spots. He grieved for a few months before he finally settled down in her old favorite place. It was almost as hard on him as it was for me. I miss my girl all the time still, but he needs me, and that is just kind of comforting sometimes.
