I agree. Blue, Black, Splash really is the most versatile color group.Blue BusyBee is gorgeous -- hard to beat blue for stunning color.
The crooked tails and floppy combs just add character. Your tomatoes look great!Young Bela (2011)

Over half a year later Bela developed a proper white Leghorn comb (2012) I felt so bad that the comb obstructed vision. She used to walk tall and stately as a pullet (above pic) but less as a hen sporting a wicked comb!

While Bela, Violet, and Mini flocked together in harmony my 2012-2013 spring/summer obsessions turned to gardening.

We loved how good Bela was with the two Silkies -- Violet and Mini -- that we thought it novel to add a Buff Leghorn to the group. We ordered two juveniles from a private breeder and gave "Buffy" to a friend's egg-laying flock while we kept the crooked tail "Danni" -- never knew hens had crooked tails!

What can you do about this? I might have an idea: send Phyllis off to glamour school until Glynda finishes her work?Dominance
Phyllis attacked Glynda twice this morning while she was off the nest in demonstrations of Phyllis' dominance. I fear that is what the nest box stuff is about, dominance. It worries me that Glynda might give up if Phyllis causes too much trouble.
I can share my experience. Brownie is the head girl here. Whenever she got off the nest the other hens would pick on her and try and start stuff. Brownie fought back and just went back to sitting. I mention this only to say I was surprised they did it to her given her Queen status within my flock.Dominance
