Wind picked up real good out there.
Nasty weather! Our Santa Ana Winds can sometimes get up to 100 mph gusts and rip up the yard!

Next step, one more Silkie pullet to lay and then the fun begins to see if all 3 go notoriously broody!

Hey everyone.

All the chickies are doing good. Today is Grandma's birthday so I have allowed myself to be down in the dumps. These first big events without her hit hard but I know they will get better with time. I should save this picture for pony sunday but I am not. I have looked like a idiot for 5 days to get this yesterday. There is a new beaver dam being built underneath the bridge to my holler. It is in a bad spot, will cause trouble so I know the county will not let it stay. I'm sad though, they are beautiful and I have saw them 5 days in a row, without my camera. I finally got a picture last night. I am heading down in a few minutes to try again while they are still here.

They are amazing aren’t they ♥️

Today Old Woman decided to give our chickens a bath. Of course, Grandma wasn't pleased. The duo, Parm and Moxie are looking clean as ever and we all love clean Leghorns. I don't have photos, my apologies. Tony, out of the others, was okay with a bath and if you know Tony, you know that she can be a bit of a nervous wreck or just a bit too energetic. I'm just convinced that she's scared. Crazy to think that Tony can handle a bath. Chickens hate getting wet so it shocks me that Tony would even enjoy a bath. Seems like this is the only way to calm her down... has anyone else got a chicken like this? Energetic? Scared all the time? Weird ways to cope with their negative feelings? It seems to me that Tony has a special feature.

It is so hot and humid here today and likely for the rest of the week as well. I went out to the coop to add more waterers and to take down the chicks tent as well since they seem to be roosting up with the bigs for the last week.
The bigs refuse to let the tweens come out of the coop and into the run so far. I am hoping that ends soon but at least they are safe in there.
I tried to get a photo of them today (they are getting so big!) in the coop but the bigs keep coming in to chase em to the low light areas of the coop. I will try again tomorrow. I think one is a boy and two are pullets and Id like a second opinion before I rehome him.

This is the only photo I managed to get today lol thank you girls for being in the way!!

We lived on the closer side to Santa Ana. We've had plenty of those canopy things ripped up by winds over there.

Here the wind is nasty as well, but the rain was most welcome. We haven't had any for ages.
