I would remove the egg in case she breaks it. And just let her be, she is likely resting.

The shell is really strong.

I have been reading a bit more about it and like everything in the chicken world it has advocates and detractors.
Some people use icy water in a bucket, but others warn that could kill the chicken from shock. So not going to do that!
Others just use cool water and some don't dunk but empty a bucket over the hen and leave her to preen herself dry.
So I am not sure whether to try one of these or not.
Sylvie has an almost completely naked chest where she has plucked her feathers and she is very hot in that spot. I wonder if I could use a spray bottle and spray her front with cold water rather than tipping a bucket over her.
Hmm.

Chickens have died from the dunking. Whether that is from the sudden shock or hypothermia I can't say. I would never do that to them. I don't love the crate but it is way better than risking their life.

Letting it go was an awful move. It flew landed in the grass and the cat got it.
Some little boys helped me get it back but now it's hurt it couldn't fly off the grass ,

I got it back. Now trying to heal it. I can't find a way to get it to drink

Take it to a local pub, and start a tab. (It works well for the locals around here)

I took Xzit back to the coop to be with the other flockers. She’ll be fine until I get back from church.
