Just checking babies, looks like they are warm enough they are spread out- I kept the barn closed up again tonight incase of fireworks and it’s going to be another chilly night. Glad they seem warm enough.

Noted Reenie having a snooze, the horses had their yearly vaccination for rabies, tetnus (horse are very prone to this), also west Nile, flu, and eastern /western equine encephalitis.

I have had issues with them having reaction to the west Nile vaccine in the past so now they get predosed with Phenylbutisone (Bute) which is like ibuprofen for horses. They will have this for about three days to help with any pain and discomfort. Better to have a bit of discomfort than get west Nile and die- horse are super predisposed to getting west Nile, my Vet states he already had a couple this year with it. It’s highly fatal to horses too. Better a $20 shot than a $2000 in vet bills!

Wish I could vaccinate chickens for all the stuff chickens can get! But seems can’t here.

You should live here! Illegal fireworks and firecrackers going off all hours sporadically since April. Just get ready to sleep and suddenly someone sets off firecrackers or noise bomb that rattles the house!

The hens and pullets got used to the noises but dogs in the neighborhood bark their heads off, poor things.
How selfish have these people become and where is the law that's supposed to deal with all this.

Someone set one off a couple days ago. Scared the daylights out of me for a second, and I was already tired enough.

I expect (and other people) expect (or should expect) fireworks on the actual 4th of July here, and should do the necessary precautions for their pets. Same goes for New Years.

What I have a problem with is people setting them off prematurely.

NOT JUST PREMATURELY FIRING -- MY ISSUE ARE THE ILLEGAL ONES!
