You noticed that!that chicken has no tail!!
More of life’s little disappointmentsthat chicken has no tail!!
Oh Bubba.I had some leftover biscuits and french fries for the chickens. I gave the fries to the adults and saved the biscuits for the chicks. While in the coop with the babies Randy comes to see what I am doing. I save him a piece and when I leave I toss it to him since he was by himself thinking he would eat it. He happily grabs it and instead of eating it he proudly runs around the house. I follow and find him out front tidbitting away until his favorite hen Trampy Judy shows up and he gives it to her. Randy she did not need that, she got more then her fair share of the fries, it was for you. I then head to the back door to avoid the yellow jackets that have taken over the front porch and have a panic attack while walking up the steps. I look towards the fan and see rooster tail feathers surrounding the fan. What the heck, I yelled for Bubba thinking he would move and nope. Ok, Bubba always at least acknowledges me when I call for him so I fear the worst and go see what is happening. Is Bubba hurt or dead, nope. He is asleep with his butt less then a inch from the front of the fan blocking all the air. Dirt is glaring at him by the way, that is his fan. It is only 78 but humid and Bubba is no dummy, he knows how to stay cool. He could have at least moved a little bit though to let me know he was not dead.
I did wonder about that! I know lavender is very light and thought perhaps it was the lighting and/or chick fuzz. Not Very Observant.
Ok, now I think I'm pretty good with chickens. I pay attention to them, watch them closely, understand what they are doing and how they work together.
I also think that everyone on this thread is pretty observant as well. However, I have missed something very vital and none of you all have noticed it either. I know I'm ashamed and thinking of turning in my chicken keeper card.
Can any of you figure out what is wrong with Aster? It is fundamental.

Aster is NOT a Lavender Orpington!
This is a Lavender Orpington. This is none other than Hattie at 4 weeks. Aster is 3 weeks old.

Note the dark grey legs and break. And of course please note the......
LAVENDER FEATHERS!!!
How have I missed this? It's embarrassing.
No, I have no idea what kind of chicken she is. I purchased Lavender Orpington eggs. I clearly did not get Lavender Orpington eggs.
I have been so caught up in the excitement of having chicks that i did not think of this until Mrs BY Bob sent me this photo of her singing to Hattie from 6 years ago today.

I can't believe I have not noticed. What a fool I am.
You know I was going to say something….. but wanted to see who else noticedthat chicken has no tail!!
Yep, or the chickens….. Penelope has been sound asleep and I had to shake her to wake her upHa! Glad yoy both are O.K. horses sure know how to play dead even if they dont mean too! I hear so many people get phone calls that there horses are dead, even though in realty, they are asleep in the most awkward positions that makes my jaw drop just thinking about how uncomfortable that position might be....
I was wondering, but again didn’t want to say anything, with Laverne here I was wondering that maybe she was just a paler colour than Laverne. Not Very Observant.

White Chickens are gorgeous and magical.I did wonder about that! I know lavender is very light and thought perhaps it was the lighting and/or chick fuzz.
Also, now that I see a close up. Compare the rounded tail on baby Hattie vs the new sweet baby. I am wondering if she is a Orpington or not. I would think she would have more rounded tail feathers like Hattie if she was.time will tell.
White Orps are stunning though if she does turn out to be one!
