I know right! I bought Lavender Orpington eggs. How can there be a mixup? I will be requesting answers.
Where did you get them? I'm thinking of checking their list on my own to see if anything sparks. After playing what breed of chicken is this? with Cheetah and the girls with him, I find that rather fun!
She came from a brown egg. I got them from a breeder I had never worked with before. Scarborough Farms. I checked today and they currently offer:
  1. French Black Tail Red Maran
  2. Assorted French Marans
  3. Black Copper Maran
  4. Silkies
  5. Rhode Island Red
  6. Dominique
  7. White Leghorn
  8. Easter Egger
Aster is NONE of those. Wonder where they're getting the changing breeds from...

Well, cross off all Marans varieties and silkie for her as a possibility. Really on that list I would say leghorn, but she is not a leghorn. Orpingtons do come in splash. Is there any chance you could get splash from a lavender breeding? She is pretty but I am so sorry there was a mix up. I hope they make it right for you. You should get what you ordered.
No chance. Lavender is self-blue rather than Blue, Black, Splash. If a chick isn't double for Lavender, they pop black split to Lavender. Means they're black, but when crossed with another, 1/4 chance of popping Lavender as it's hidden under the black.

I need to be barred from facebook for a few weeks. It is that time of year, my local poultry and livestock groups are listing their excess roosters. This morning 4 new adds pop up. All with to me gorgeous silkie cockerels. Between the adds there are white boys, black boys, a red boy and some poppet colored boys. I may be sorely tempted on one or two of them but no I must wait. Before I go silkie cockerel shopping I need to be certain I do not have a Branch son. I really think I do, but the waiting game is killing me.
Ended up visiting a Living Homestead (historical garb included). They had 7 chickens in the coop. A light Brahma pullet, a silver laced wyandotte pullet (looks close to laying), a sapphire gem pullet, a splash Americana pullet, a red partridge bantam cochin pullet, also close to laying, and 2 silkies: a black and a white....both cockerels.

All the pics. Saw the white doing the herding shuffle and the black tidbitted. White is crowing.

When the Homestead closes for the winter, they will be going home with one of the staff.

Meat Bird

The seller of the eggs is saying that Aster is a meat bird and therefore could not have possibly come from them................

I'm not getting my money back. I will keep speaking with them but I'm not getting my money back.
Sounds like posting a review is going to be a potential need.
