I'm leaving the last egg until the evening in case it's just lazy. No pip and it had gotten tucked into a blue eggshell somehow so...we will see. I'm so happy with 7 though! And proud of the hens!
Congratulations momma's. Job well done. They are so adorable. Enjoy them.

Tonight I have to do a photoshoot with one of the little silkies. Colors have started to come through and one of them is going to be stunning. Her chest is getting soft tan or peachy feathers while her body appears to be coming in grey. It is early and things can change in the next few molts but right now these are soft and warm pullet coloring. If my hunch is right I think the pullet who is to be honored by being named after @BY Bob Patsy is revealing herself.

Yesterday was expected to be 100° and possibly smokey so I gave the chickens some watermelon and we fled to the coast. Absolutely stunning day!

Chickens were in bed when we got home, except Alinta who has been missing or avoiding the coop until the door closes so I tucked her in.

A fan was the only thing that made it bearable to sleep the last few nights while I was in the UK.
Sure has been humid and hot everywhere this summer, this morning it was so warm in the barn I am seriously thinking of letting the chooks roost were they want.

Which is likely the hen house anyways… need more fans…
