Tonight I locked the big ones out and let the chickies be free in the run. Lots of flying and scratching around.

The two pompoms seemed to have the most fun, and disco the bellbottom chick had a ton of fun too.

Bab almost made it onto the "bench" of it but I moved too quickly and she scooted off.
All in all it was 15-20 minutes and they had a blast, Bab is already having to whip her head around to see so she had difficulties getting back in the brooder. I think it's because she was busy pecking the fence so got left behind by the rest and then freaked out.

She looks like a little “Pumkin” to me.

The chickies survived their first night outside. Everyone was let out at 7:30 this morning. As an extra special treat I got a rake full of grass clippings from yesterday and scattered in the coop. They also got some left over rice. I then proceeded to have my first cup of coffee in the coop with them this morning. I guess it is time to completely break down the brooder, I have no excuse to leave it set up. Little devils, I missed their soft chatter last night.

I love the way they chatted with each other too.

Rudy, the Wyandottey, only crows a few times in the morning at 6:00 (he still sounds like a rubber chicken being squeezed)
But he’s a sweet little guy.
