She took the required gym class freshmen year, she does not need another. I know this gym class, I actually took it. Well, no, I was switched into it my senior year when I bailed halfway through the first 9 weeks in pre-calculus. This is weight lifting. This is geared towards the football players. In all honesty, unless you are a football player it is a easy A. Show up, walk your mandatory 5 laps around the top of the gym and then take a nap. In my case it was poker and rook or whatever other card game my friends wanted to play. I told Rosie this as she loves cards and with her difficult schedule she might enjoy a "freebie" A. She scoffed at me. Easy, do I think colleges are going to look at her transcripts and value easy. Her goal is creative writing, chemistry is her back up. If they would let her, she would double down with another math and take Trigonometry. She is going to inquire about it, but she is not getting her hopes up on that one. She really amazes me with her skill and love for math. Last year she actually completed the last mandatory math credit she needed since she got credit for Algebra 1 in 8th grade. She does not need anymore and here we are over the moon for AP Pre-cal and wants to take more.
Good girl! I love to see women in STEM courses, and of course the trades ♥️

In the oil fields they prefer to hire women to drive the heavy equipment for two reasons 1) they are not as prone to do stupid things and get hurt, 2) they are easier on the equipment not roughy handling the equipment breaking them.

Those two reasons equal tens of millions of dollars saved for a company. If I were younger I would get my Rock Truck license and drive in circles for 10 days on and 10 days off making $200,000/ yr 😊👍👍👍

Hello all! Long time no post. I do miss keeping up with you all and your awesome flocks.

All is kinda well here. I sadly lost Goldie this spring. Not even a year old...so sad. We have no ideas what happened. We found her under the roosts after a stormy night, not a mark on her, other than being wet as our roof fix gave way, dumping water on them. But it was warm and the other hens were fine. Maybe it was shock? No way to know.

So I was down to my 3 original girls, Eenie, Meanie and Sheba. I say was, because our neighbor bought 4 rhode island reds this May...then discovered they have to move! They asked if I'd take them and, well, how do you say no to more chickens?

So, here's the Red Squadron. (My husband is a big old Star Wars nerd.)

After a bit of time as neighbors, we connected them to the run yesterday. The adult ladies are neither amused nor accepting of this, and big old cowards! They are hiding in the coop from the scary teenagers. But I suppose they'll come around.

Thee new coop, in a better, shadier building, is underway.

I hope to move everyone together in about a week. I am a tad concerned about them being locked in a 8x8 coop, in the heat 24/7. Is that really necessary I wonder? Or will the coop + run be okay, so they can have some space? I'll have to do some research.🤔

Hugs to all...especially your lovely chooks.
Oh I was thinking of you last week! Hello!!!! So glad to hear from you!

Red Squadron that’s awesome 👍 let us know their names when you get a chance, unless you’re like me with the 3 Buff Orps and can’t tell them apart teeheehee.

Oh I am loving your new coop, it will be amazing when finished! It looks great now - wow so much space and light - your hubby is awesome.

Ok I’ll stop babbling - I love your red squadron ♥️

You know I should mark them with the Blu-Kote so I can tell them apart. All I know is Sweetie Pie will come up to me immediately and snuggle up, Butters will come over to visit but is not so much into snuggling, and Goldie wants nothing to do with me at all - hm tough for her, she gets snuggles anyways!

Oh and also so sorry to hear Goldie passes away, I agree likely shock. They get spooked easily and at night in the dark, they get flapping around. I am so sorry you had to find her this way.

:hugs :hugs :hugs

Somehow Phyllis survived with only light trimming and styling. I expect that Versace should enjoy the same.
I love Betty’s peonie look to her coiffe - this so why I haven’t trimmed it yet. I am going to try the styling wax I use in my hair, it’s hold really well. I juiprst don’t want her running into the door again, sure it was funny but she could have hurt herself (is it mean I am laughing as I type this??).

Even Aurora never treated Phyllis like that. I can't believe they do that to him. It's so mean.
I know right?!

I think of her wasnt so light and the blood didn’t show so well they would leave him alone. The Blu-Kote helps I just have to remember to keep applying it. He’s more purple than white now hahaha - Mr Purple!

We have three crates now. Hubby says he doesn't really feel like getting more haha.
We also have three of those metal shelf units we can use as a base or frame or something for the coop...does each coop need a nest box? We have the 2 bay one from our original coop still...I'm tempted to get a 4th crate and make a BIG coop with it. He says they get a couple a week at the shop. Dad is trying to convince him to use the truck and load it up with crates but hubby doesn't want to.

Tax, a yin-yang and their babies

Those babies, I swear are growing by the minute!

Ohhh, what a lovely picture @rural mouse !:love:love:love:love:love:love:love:love

It almost looks like a Rockwell painting - such a pretty hen (and, yes, finally in FOCUS!), and a gorgeous backdrop, too.
That is calendar worthy. It just goes the wrong way. Amazing photo.

California we have a problem!!
We are facing another bout of Covid here. Many people are sick with it. Even some of my friends have it now.
So far, I have been fine, and I test every other day. :old :(
